Hi,
Just bought a Predator 212cc and slapped it on my kart. Runs great, but with one hiccup. It seems to shutoff at random times. Seems to be on turns. I'm almost positive it's the low oil sensor, but then again, I could be wrong. And if it its, what is a way I can take it off without damaging it, and also being able to "switch" it on at a later time.

No, it just unplugs.. cover up the relay end with the boot, as that will also cause a shut down.

Those engines are meant for rototillers and industrial machines...not gokarts...however, they work very well on them.

But they aren't designed to turn corners at speed. So...the have a safeguard...a low oil sensor...so when it gets low on oil...(basically sitting still) ...it shuts the engine off. Simply removing that yellow wire disables it...many hook it to a switch and then ground for a kill switch...You must make sure it can't touch ground or it will kill the engine. Wrapping the end with electrical tape usually accomplishs this just fine.

Predator 212cc Shuttoff at Wide Open Throttle

I was testing the top speed, and at about 10 seconds in, the engine shutoff. It took about 5 pulls to start it (it only takes one, it's brand new). Any ideas?

Post pic of spark plug please. It's either lean or the low oil sensor is shutting it off I think.

I think he wanted you to photograph the firing end of the plug so he could read it for you. Old school mystical work it is, like reading the bones... :D

Eh... he needed an extreme closeup of the plug end and in an isometric orientation. I don't think, however, that after such a short time running your plug will indicate what we're looking for. It looks brand-spanking new and clean enough to eat off of. :p

In the meantime engine chump, take thee a gander at this informative graphic....

So... My plug looks like number one. And also I don't know to much about the etiquette of this forum. So should I just have one long thread of problems I may have? Or do I create separate ones for different problems like I have?

If the problems are related to the same kart, then it is easier for everyone if they are kept in one thread

So. If I were to put a new exhaust on the Predator, does it affect performance? The one on it sound pretty weak, and I want people to know when I'm coming (I had a near death experience... lol). And if it doesn't affect performance, what is a good one with a low price?
