Any help would be appreciated, I bought this kart , with a predator 212 , cleaned carb and got it back running . now whenever i put the choke lever in run position it goes full throttle . i’ve messed around with the linkages but still no luck . i disconnected the governor rod that runs to the carb butterfly and it still does it . the actual throttle control arm does nothing when springing it back . any help would be appreciated. i can post pics if need be .

Have you adjusted the idle screw? Post some pics or upload a short video and post it.
yes i forgot to add , idle screw is backed all the way out . also i think it’s the EPA carb , so no mixture screw . ordering a new carb soon , i will post pictures and vids tomorrow, as it’s 1 in the morning .

So the arm doesn’t reset? Okay, there is a lock nut (you can find the location on YouTube, I can’t get a picture now) that is tightened all the way down. Loosen it some. These come out of the factory set up for fixed throttle machines.

Here ya go. If it's corroded like this one, you can try backing it way out, squirting a little lube under the plate, snug it back up, then start backing it off some again. Move it back and forth to work the lube in and play with the nut until you feel that it can move freely but the bracket isn't so loose it wobbles up and down.

You'll need to reconnect the governor arm at least. The governor controls the idle speed. Loosen the 10mm nut as suggested and put the governor back how it was and go from there. Make sure the throttle cable is free with no kinks and adjusted properly, make sure any throttle return springs are in place. Not much else to it.

thank you for the reply , i’ve already removed the wavy spring washer under the nut of the throttle assembly , my issue is when i have the choke in this position (see picture) it runs full throttle , the actual throttle assembly does not control the throttle like usual . i can spring it back all the way and it doesn’t not affect the rpm’s at all . the only thing that’s controlling the rpm’s is the choke lever (see picture) it’s very unusual

Look inside the carb.
Is the butterfly still mounted to the throttle shaft???

That's all janky.

That's the wrong spring.

Something is up with the throttle rod too, it shouldn't be setting that high.

The little spring is missing on the throttle rod.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the governor parts are laying in the bottom of the crankcase.

@BaconBitRacing, can you remove your air box and get him some GOOD pics of how it should be. I'm gonna be gone about all day tomorrow.

Might as well order a side cover gasket too. If those parts came apart, it'll never work right.

Better yet, jus pull the motor off and check before ordering anything. If those governor weights came off, they can and will break the oil slinger off the rod, not counting the damage those pieces do to the cam, lifters, and compression release mechanism.
