i recently got the go kart bug, and im very pleased i did... i purchased to karts in one week.... one is a Manco Dingo frame (wifes) with a 212 hemi on it , TAV torque converter set up, 9 tooth on clutch and 60 on axle sprocket
Mine is a frame im not to sure of.. also has a 212 but its not the hemi, regular clutch set up with 10 tooth on clutch and 60 on the axle sprocket also....
now for mine, since i have to se faster than the wife lol... i ordered a "stage 2" performance kit which included a bored .650 "race" carb with a .035 main jet and 140 e-tube, cone style filter and adapter, and a new pipe and muffler....
wifes so far is getting a "race" carb bored .615 with .038 main jet and 140 e-tube also, planning on getting a pipe and air filter set up also for this kart....
my questions are , how can i get better top speeds on both without doing major internal mods to the engines? i know you can have 20hp but if its limited to 3600rpms its going to same speed as a 5hp with the same rpm max, so my basic question is is bypassing the governor the same as taking it out of the motor? and how much rpm's would i really gain doing this? i know i'd need a billet flywheel and not wanting to get one as the are as much or more then the 212cc engine itself..
and also im looking to get knobbier tires for my cart...they have lawn mower tires on them, im looking to get dingo or yerfdog style tall meaty rear tires any suggestion on sizes ? im on 6" rims right now but would buy bigger if needed, how do i determain the center hole bore and max width i can put on my kart?
