You know what? I think you can.... Seems like I saw a thread where some one used an end cap, drilled it for bolts and through hole.....

well I made one from a chef boyardee can take that poboy, lol. it's temporary im going to get a pvc end cap soon

I faintly recollect a few years ago, someone here made an air cleaner out of a tuna can, some foam, and a piece of metal door screen I think it was.

Depending on the sturdiness of the can, maybe a piece of flat stock inside if needed, I'd just leave it as is.

I need an adapter since I am putting a clone carb on my 5 Hp briggs Flattie, like Gran_Penn's Bronda engine.l

as soon as I can I'll post pics, my adapter is huge because i am using a k&n filter for a car that I had layin around so my adapter is 3 inches around

Sure you can, as long as the cap fits inside the filter neck, then it's a simple matter of drilling three holes (one for the carb throat, 2 for mounting) in the appropriate positions...

I'm running a super high tech 3/4" OSB air filter adapter. If you have the right size hole saws I imagine you could make one in about 30 seconds.

OSB/MDF/(insert any other abbreviated wooden material) will work for a short bit, until the gasoline starts to dissolve the glues/resins and it will disintegrate.
The cap idea is a pretty good idea though.

Sorry it took so long for a response.

I just made another air filter adapter.

It literally takes 5 minutes.
I made it for a Briggs 6hp Intek, it fits the bmi air filters they sell, and cost me $1.99.

I used a flat and black PVC end cap (I think they are for septic or something like that).

It measures:
2" ID
2.25" OD
1" tall

I just traced a gasket on it and drilled a 1" hole and two 3/16 or 5/16 holes ( i can't remember size ).

I did the same on mine, used the black (ABS) pipe cap. need to grab a filter for it still. I took the original filter foam and ziptied it to the end cap.
