Like the car insurance commercial says: "Everybody knows that."

And this is really more for tools folks have actually made themselves....not seen on the web....

I have a Panasonic 1300W just sitting in my back garage to rob parts off of. If you want the transformer, shoot me an offer. It is the newer one with the SuperTransformer or whatever they call it.

Spindle bearings are expensive (for a good reason ;))
so... while I indeed like the DIY fly cutter;
I hope it's at least lighter than it looks, or better balanced than it appears ;)

.. just an idea:
drill and tap the opposite end, then add a bolt and stack [big] washers to have it run as true as you can (under no load);

On the other hand.. if that second picture is actually the plane it cut...
why bother, looks very good indeed :thumbsup:

It is pretty heavy for less chatter but it is very well balanced. the rod in the middle is offset a tad. I only use it occasionally for wide plates and run about 800 rpm so it don't beat up the machine to bad.

My shop actually just had my head rebuilt so the bearings should last a lil while, if not they can send it back out again lol

Heavy Duty Caulking Guns

Here are a couple of caulking guns I made. The single one I made to push heavy automotive seam sealer and windshield adhesive out of. Most caulking guns will not push that thick crap out, this one does it with almost no effort! The dual one has the handle threaded and works by pulling the tubes towards the handle.

Swivel Vise Mount

Here is a swivel vise that I mounted on a 2" receiver hitch that is welded to my woodstove which is bolted to the floor. I can clamp anything that I want to cut or weld at any angle. I can also take the vise out and mount it on any receiver hitch. We actually used it quite a bit at the St. Labre 200.

Adjustable work table

I guess this counts as a tool? I was getting tired of bending over to work on stuff so I rigged this up in my garage. The platform is 24"x36" and easily remove-able. It could support an entire kart. All connections have 5/8 jam bolts to keep things from wiggling. I used a 2000lb worm gear winch from P/A.

That is one handy table. My back always hurts when building a Kart.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I whipped up this crankshaft press for the removal of the PTO side bearing off of the crankshaft of my 277 Rotax engines, The brass plug is used to protect the end of the crankshaft against damage from the forcing bolt, it works really slick and makes life easier when taking on this task.

Nice....(I take it you kept the puller jaws when you robbed the bolt, so you can still use it that way too?)
That bolt is from one of my "H" bar pullers and it will be used for both pullers, the square nut on the homemade puller is a Caterpillar track pad nut that is hard.

B.M.800- That's cool, does it have any heat treat(casenit??) to it?

The other day I had seen a tool in a hotrod magazine, very similar to your rivet set you have there, except that it was a tool bit for an air chisel.
I reckon the one described was for large car frame rail rivets, but could by all means transferred to smaller versions, for sheet metal ect.

Yup. Totally missed this... :roflol:

It is not hardened, not even had a chance to use it yet.
I would like to make some to fit an air hammer.

Here is another tool that I just made, instead of using my lathes to check the run out of my two stroke cranks I made this fixture to use instead, the large thin stainless steel washers do not rotate they are stationary and work like opposing "V" blocks would, I will use this fixture to measure the crankshafts that I change the connecting rods on and adjust the cranks as needed to get as close to zero run out as possible.

A static balancer is a cool little rig when you know how to use it right...

Used one a number of time to balance small rotor and armatures for rewound electric motors...
