I might start off with the header/re-jet/gov-remove and see how it does. I don't plan on spinning the bejesus out of it, but there are gains to be had within a reasonable rpm range just by Anti-EPAing it. They really DO strangle these motors in the name of paranoia!

Just get Mikuni 22mm or so. The GX390 carburetors are horrible. Mine kept on smoking, no matter what setting. Opening up the choke just made it accelerate to the point the clutch engaged.

if i were to get a new flywheel so i could spin over 5500 rpms does it have to be a billet or can it just be an aluminum?

Depends. Briggs aluminum flywheels will break before the cast iron ones, even though they're lighter.

But HONDA Aluminums are quite nice. I emailed AGK about them (when he had them) and he said he spun them 8,000+ no problems.

http://nr-racing.com/raceparts.htm

AGK no longer carries them, but NR-Racing does. You might also notice the billet aluminum one is $25 less on NR than on AGK.

I'd email NR about their aluminum flywheels, asking if they can spin at 7,500, and how close they were to AGK's.

what do you think about me getting this kit
Carburetor, Clone GX390 (~21 mm) with long adapter and fixed jet.. Includes insulator/spacer, all gaskets, bolts, filter adapter, and air filter. Makes 1/2 hp more than 2 pc adapters. For GX160/200s (Style may differ from picture)

and later on get this flywheel and an arc rod

wich flywheel should i get?
Flywheel, Aluminum with Fins, ~ 3.3 lbs, Works with stock Recoil, Can be painted white to appear stock

or

Flywheel, Aluminum with Fins, Fins cut and lightened, ~3.0 lbs (adds 1/4 hp). Works with stock recoil, Lightest Flywheel available.

This is completely my opinion, but the carburetor kit is useless with a stock engine. You're better off getting a #90 jet, header, and air filter, and 18lb springs.

Both flywheels are pretty much the same. One is stock, with the fins uncut, while the other one is lighter due to the lightened and cut fins. Overall, they're pretty much the same. Email NR and ask how many RPMs he recommends for this flywheel though.

Depends. AGK/NR sells 2 different types. On rod, the cheaper one, does not include bearings, thus, when the ROD wears, down, you have to replace the whole thing. However, the more expensive one, WITH the bearings, you can wear it down, and replace the bearings only (around $20), and if you accidentally run it low on oil, you don't have to replace the whole rod, just the bearings.

Overall, the bearinged rod is a much better buy. The stock rod does not have bearings.

Guys...you wont need to change your oil every day. Change it every 10 hours or so. We change our oil every day because where running these engines at peak performance and we run alot of compresion and some leaks past the valve seats and piston rings and mixes with the oil. And yes you can run plain 5W 30 in a alcohol engine.

Really? Guys on 4cycle.com are telling me you need to run special oils that mix with methanol.

Heh, guys running Clones with less mods than mine are changing their Red-E every night! Amazing.

OHVs will take over... muhahahahahhahahahaha :devil2:

Although I personally love flatheads. Go kart had an OHV, my first engine I bought was a flathead. What can I say? Love both! Both have their ups and downs.
