I'm very sorry, but you're 100% wrong. You can feel VTEC kick in. It is NOT variable valve timing. It is two separate cam profiles, and you can definitely feel when it switches onto the 'hot' cam at high revs.

You should do some research before a rant like that...

VTEC - all the lag, none of the boost

For a performance track car VTEC is pretty pointless. You can just put a hot cam in a normal engine and it will act like the honda engine with VTEC enabled all the time. Since on the track you don't drop below 3,500 revs or so, the lack of low down torque makes no difference.

vtec is fine for road, but as you said on track its pointless lol, did i hear right that you can buy something to adjust the time that vtec engages so to speak lol

Here's a better one:

2002 Trans Am Convertible (fair weather)
1995 Cadillac Deville Concours (crappy weather)
1995 F150 (really crappy weather, towing)
1995 Honda Nighthawk 750 (fair weather)
Manco Phoenix Eagle II

Under the blue tarp (see it?) my other project kart.

3 off the quickest cars i have driven is TT Supra six speed, 2.2 vtec in a civic and a S14 rb20det. The civic could almost keep up with the S14 which was pretty fat.

Cool thing about Hondas is putting one together is like playing with legos(just like chevy) but even cheaper, half the pistons and rods=nearly half the cost to build a solid bottom end, only 1 head to deal with, one exhaust manifold, smaller cheaper tires(go price drag radials), etc. You can put together a turbo civic that runs 12s for what? $3-4k car included? One can easily put that much into a SBC to make a bigger car do that same thing, and he has only bought a motor.

But then it's still a Civic. You can do the same thing with just about any F- or G-body Chevy.

First off, very nice GN, the 81-87 regal/cutlass, painted black, in my opinion is one of the best looking cars ever made.

You can buy a relatively rust free 3rd gen or G body AND build it to RELIABLY run 12s for $4000? A decent F or G is at least $2000 up here, after building the motor on a shoestring you still need a beefy rear end to replace the weak 10 bolt, sub frame connectors for the F body, a set of rear tires, rear wheels, don't forget that that stock 700r4 isn't gonna live long at those levels.

Don't get me wrong. I hate ricers, I love V8s and brute force HP methods, but one could just as easily say a built Camaro is still a trailer park mullet car, or a G body is for ghetto people. I suppose a built bug is a ****ty old German econobox too?

TL,DR be more open minded.
