Please help!

I purchased a live axle go kart with no engine. Got a new predator and torque converter. The torque converter does not fit on the left part of the axle. I also found it weird that the chain was on the right side and brakes on left. What clutch will work for this type of go kart?! Please help!

Your t/c will work, you need a small sprocket, probably a 10 tooth or so on the other end of the jackshaft, then a chain from the t/c sprocket to your new sprocket. Maybe someone will have a good picture to post of what I mean, all mine have centrifugal clutch units.

Here are a few different kinds of jackshaft setups. The first one is with a chain going from the torque converter to jackshaft, then to axle. The second one is with the driven pulley unit of the torque converter mounted to the jackshaft directly, then chain to axle.
The third is a centrifugal clutch to jackshaft, then to axle.

that appears to be a murray

so you need to ignore the backplate you bought since it already has a jackshaft.

below's a manual for a murray with a TC
showing an exploded view of how it's set up

No matter what kart it is, your setup will be similar.
you only ned to make sure driver and driven of the TC are aligned
(non moveable sheaves are inline and perpendicular to the shaft)
and you might need a new belt (of different size) to fit the center to center distance.

No that's NOT what I was saying

Difference is:
series 30 on your and series 40 on the second pic JT posted..

if you flip the driven inboard (as in said pic)
it won't work at all and you'll just ruin your belt

pic1 is in fact much closer to what you need to be doing.
