I am finishing up my first go kart project and ran into an issue. I have a Predator 212 and have a 12t centrifugal clutch and a 60 tooth rear sprocket for a 5:1 gear ratio. I believe my tires are 11.5" tall on a 5" rim. When I start the engine, the clutch engages and the wheels spin without giving throttle. When I try to drive the kart, it starts to go then stops or the clutch doesn't want to engage. I don't think the gearing is the issue, but I don't know. Could it be the throttle needs adjusted? Any advice will
help!! Thank you.

I haven't lubed the clutch yet but I don't see how that would stop it from moving. Isn't 5:1 ratio standard for that size tire and engine? Thanks for the reply.

And I'm not sure, but it does seem to idle pretty high.

It's worth a shot, start with the simple stuff, and it will take less than a minute. From what you're describing, there's something wrong with your clutch. Lubing is the simplest thing you can do, plus it'll make it easier to get apart if it don't fix it.

This is probably and insulting, dumb question that I hope you'll forgive me for asking, but have you checked to make sure the throttle is moving in the right direction?

There is a little slack and it is a new clutch. It does return at far as Incan tell. I wonder if it's idling too high?

Recheck the throttle cable. It almost sounds like it might be pulling a bit or the actual arm isnt at the rest position when you tightened the screw for the cable on the throttle arm.

Howabout some pics.... to see what were dealing with...
