But, you guys all have a lot more experience running an un-governed engine then he does. What kind of rpm's does a 212 predator throw out un-governed ?

They say that stock valve springs keep the engine safe by limiting the rpms. Keep the springs and your good. Upgrade the springs and you need to upgrade the connecting rod. That's the general consensus I believe.

Yea always remove the governor and low oil sensor and air box. Looks like you have a non hemi engine there. I would of course try everything you know to do before you take the head off, but I would check my lash make sure it's, .003 on both valves if that don't make it stop back firing then remove head and lap the valves and roll your push rods on a true flat surface and make sure they didn't get bent, I've seen it happen and the engine back fired and wouldn't run. But it could be timing like one guy said on here, but it's rare to sheer a key.

Predator with no governor and everything stock will go bout 6000 but without a billet flywheel your limited on RPM and is NOT safe

I had the same problem with mine. The idle is set too high. It'll start moving if the kart is light enough and the idle is high. Just back out the black plastic screw on the carb and you should be good. The clutch is working fine

Ungoverned rpm is at least 5000 up to 5500 due to valve float of STOCK springs.
No special parts are needed.
I have never heard of getting 6000.

And we just cant seem to get a confirmation "here" of anyone ever Exploding a stock Flywheel!

It is a myth perpetrated by OMBs Mini bike Forum. I think Because OMB also sells parts!
Could be they fear liability but I believe they just want to sell parts.

I know my neighbors predator has no governor, and it stays at valve float rpm when he's riding it. If it was going to go, I'd say it would have by now. My GX on nitro would rev a lot higher than it would on gas, it even still had the plastic gear in it (the honda ones must be pretty good, I didn't realize it was in there or I would've removed it)I put over 25 gallons of nitro/methanol mix through it, and the worst I ever did was blow a head gasket. These little motors are TOUGH.

All good guys. I'm not sure what it was but I got it working. Oiled the clutch and messed with some stuff. It goes pretty good! I should post some pics after it's completely done.
