Well other than twice the drivetrain durability, I can't see any benefit. If you're thinking of a 2 speed setup, you'd have to make one engage dramatically higher and figure out how t odisengage the low one.

I was thinking durability and looks, I've got 2 tav2 30 and don't want to dish out the 500 CAD on a 40 series.. running 16-18 hp

I would be more worried about the strength of the cast back plate, how far off the outer clutch is on the motor shaft,
and how you will attach drive sprocket to it, as you are already out of room on the tav2 backplate's jackshaft.
Plus you would likely need an outboard bearing to support both sides of the driven clutch conglomeration.

Id source a 40 series or better clutch, maybe fix up a used unit. If you want a reliable and practical solution that is.

yeah the plate would snap for sure, thinking of extending the shaft with a coupler and making a faceplate with a couple of flange bearings, the driver is going to be about 10 inches from the face of the engine.. shaft is about 3 inches long.. compensating for the coupler will bring it out to about 10. know it's not practical by any means, just an idea I want to explore, we're aiming for aesthetics as well.

My main concern is power distribution. and should I use two sprockets placed inboard of each driven pulley or could i get away with one sprocket between the two pulleys?

To use one sprocket with one chain to the axle, you would need to have both driven pulleys on a keyed shaft so there would be power transferred from the second TAV.

That may be more of a challenge than running two chain/sprocket sets.

What about keeping the backing plate and add some bearings to it for shaft support. Make like an outboard plate instead of a backing plate.

I wrestled with a boogered up crankshaft that had a broken bolt in the snout last week and cannot imagine how to handle adding another drive pulley with such a small kyway exposed on the crank.

What about some kind of planetary type drive off the crank that turns the two drive pulleys ?

More power to ya (and the ground) if you can get it to work !

I'm thinking of going with this set-up. Still debating if I should use one or two sprockets on he jackshaft. As for the shaft to primary pulley, I'm also debating to a twin belt setup. Any ideas or pointers are greatly appreciated.

If you are trying to do this just for durability....then i would probablyty reconsider. This is not how TAV's should be run, and you will probably run into countless problems along the way. In the long run it will be cheaper and more practical just to get a 40 series
