Parallel LIpo batteries?

I need to make my electric ATV run longer. It has a Lithium battery 25.2 volt 7.8 AH. Question: can I just add another Lithium battery and parallel the connections with same size and type battery?

I have an X-Pro 350watt ATV that cooked the controller Yi-Yun YK1912K 24 volt, 13 amps max replaced it with a Topro YK31C 24 volt, 500 watt 25 amp max
The ATV ran great but the motor started smoking. ATV motor is a 350 watt 24 volt, 19 amp max. I ordered a replacement 24 volt 500 watt motor BY1020D. The new motor looks more than twice the size of the original. The question is what size battery is needed now? just buy the same battery and parallel it?
My understanding is that the triad of battery-controller-motor must be balanced to work successfully for any decent amount of time.

Motor : BY1020D 24 volt 500 watt
controller: Topro YK31C 24 volt, 500 watt
Battery: 24 volt, 7.8 AmpHr X 2?

You have enough room why not go with a couple 22ah SLA batteries? But yes you can also run more of the current batteries.

This is a 350 watt toy ATV, there will be required modification for any battery change or upgrade.

The ATV is very small, 9 year old barely fits. The problem is that the weight is more than the design can handle. Advertisement from chinese factory is "120 lbs max" but at 50 lbs the controller smoked. I upgraded the controller then the motor is smoking now after 5 minutes of use. I purchased a 500 watt motor but I'm afraid the ride time will be too short now. I have the original Lithium Ion battery and charge system that works fine. To add any battery (new or extra) will require current battery mount modification.
Would I need a fuse in between packs? 30 amp? She doesn't ride for hours the upgrade is not a speed or longevity upgrade. Its just to support the upgrade in torque made by my changes without any loss in time available.

The motor upgrade requires a mounting plate adapter. The gear size and shaft height is the same, the original bolt holes are not even close!

Bgt2u,

we did a test run with just the original one battery. It last long enough as is for now but thanks for the reply. She is not complaining the shreiks of joy as she circles the yard indicates that setup is good enough for now lol

You're welcome. I am glad to hear it's keeping her happy. At least when the time does come to upgrade, you know it can be done. Some other important things that are involved when using parallel batpacks, (that have not been mentioned) are as follows: Try to get the same batpack, with the same ah rating, so that one pack does not try to over power the other. When charging, you must always disconnect the batpacks, from each other, so only one pack charges at a time, as each pack has it's own BMS. I am using fuse breaker holders, https://ibb.co/khBNp8r (one for each batpack) and simply turn them off while charging. That way l avoid plugging, and unplugging wires every time l have to recharge. In your case, you could get away with using just one fuse break holder. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.....
