I'm looking at repainting my dirt bike and I was wondering if there was a specific type of paint to use on areas that will be exposed to gas and oil? Also, what's a good way to prep and paint plastic?

I painted my cr80 plastic as it was with no prep, all went well except the gas tank, after a day or so the paint started to bubble. I sanded and repainted and same thing occurred so beware of the gas tank

You're not supposed to paint plastic with regular rat-can anyway. Spray bombed motorcycle plastics almost always come out looking horrible, if not at first, then as soon as you get a couple scratches.

Thanks for all the good advice. I should be painting it soon once I get it running.

That is the same thing that happened to me but I did prep all my plastics. My gas tank started to bubble over the winter months and I had to strip all of it off and re paint. Also I did notice that once repainted the plastics like to hold onto grease and dirt more just be sure to keep them clean.
