I've also got my 1985 Peugeot 505 which I'l do a minor resto on once I've finished the 403s engine. Just fix the little rust that's there and give it a respray, I'l rebuild the engine too, it's done 600'000kms and its never had the head off, doesn't burn oil and still has plenty of power, bit low on compression though. I've got some nice wide alloys for it and some lowered springs, I'l make a 2.5 inch exhaust system for it and I'l get an after-market computer, that should unleash a few ponies! :D

This is just my way of thinking but, you cant really call it a resto when your swapping in non stock parts. Different engine parts to make it run correctly on unleaded fuel is one thing, but aftermarket wheels and lowered springs no longer make it a resto IMO. Personally, I feel the car should appear and drive at least 99% stock. That means OEM paint color too. Again, just my opinion. I can understand modding an 85, but i cant stand seeing a perfectly restorable '55 being modded all to he//.

With the 403, the performance parts I'm using are parts made when the car was new, just period modifications, I don't consider them to far out of a resto. The extractors I make will be based on an old set too. The car will look stock but will just have some extra power, which it certainly needs! I don't know how people with less powerful cars keep up with traffic, my car wasn't exactly slow in it's day and you really have to push it to keep up with the other cars on the road.

About the 505, the wheels are actually modified factory alloys, You see a option was a special wheel to suit a special 390mm tires that had a unique bead, Michelin made made them, they were known as the TRX tire. Michelin stop producing them in the early 1990s. So you literally cannot get them and seeing as they are 390mm=15.35" and have a special bead normal tyres wont fit those wheels. So basically the only way to use the wheels is to modify them. What's happened is the centres have been machined out and Nissan Skyline outer rims have been welded on. So the wheels Look like standard 505 GTi alloys just with a little more dish and 16" tyres on them. I have no idea what the springs are off, they came with a spare parts car, probably from a 604 or something, I can't see someone getting springs custom made for a car like this. Their stiffer and a few inches lower so they should make it corner even better :D. God the French knew how to make a car handle! :D

As for the computer and the exhaust, well that's just me wanting it to have mare power, also, better fuel economy. Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection is so crap. :roflol: With the standard computer it will rev to 6000, with the aftermarket computer and the standard exhaust it'l rev to 6400-6500(It has 3 mufflers!). With the exhaust they rev to 7300 before the valves float, and given this things ridiculous cam shaft specs, the more revs the better :D.

I'm never going to pretend this is an as factory resto but Just making the car abit better than what it was when it came out of the factory, as well as being more usable in the modern age. The body and interior are going to stay factory though, as will the colour, I see no point in modifying them, they all do their job as well as they possibly could. It's still a restoration for the most part, most of it is just fixing peoples bodge jobs on it :rolleyes3:.

The poor thing has been neglected most of it's life, I love this car, I'l never sell it.

Thanks

Hayden

I have too many hobbies!!! The one true hobby I love is RC Airplanes!! My favorite was a 118 inch wingspan Edge 540 powered by a twin cylinder 150cc motor that turned a 32 inch propeller. It was a blast to fly and I sure miss it!!! I plan to eventually get another, but kids get most of my time. We built an off road cart last year with full suspension front and rear, that was fun!! Built from scratch with no plans at all...it was a experience! The kids love it and I love watching them ride it. Our next cart is going to be a Shredder variation for me and my wife to ride with the kids. I have a Honda 300ex motor and a clone 16hp sitting in the garage....yeah....probably the 300ex!!! 5 speed and reverse...can't go wrong there!!!

Was that t-man with a bouldering wall in the background of one of his photos? Or was it the guy who sparked the modded powerwheels karts?

Bighomedog11 thats sweet lol i loved rcs but i dont have the money to replace half the car every mile. the clutch was good up to about 5 miles max, dogbones always bent, it was a nightmare. couldnt even drive the thing 100 feet without breaking something, but hey that happens to EVERY rc car. they are way too weak.

Well i haven't had to do anything to mines. They dont break easy if you take care of them! Pluss mines is fully aluminum with skid plates and roll-cage so that helps. If i flip it nothing will happen to it because of the roll-cage :)

Paintball is fun. Playing in the woods or a HUGE field is the best IMO. Always remember to stress the importance of not shooting below the waist. I had a bad experience with that a few years ago:ack2:

my worst experience is when i was defending a castle with my friend and we were at opposite sides of a window shooting at wicked angles.... he missed and shot me in the belly like 10 times from 3 feet away.

Paintball is more fun but needs a designated safe place to play, airsoft can be played in a yard. My worst painball hit was in the top of the head from about 25 feet. I couldn't see the bruise, although I knew it was there, it hurt for a month.

Yes. I took one in the lens, raised my gun, leaned to wipe my lens on my hoodie, and got drilled in the head. Just a bad series of events.
