This is just my way of thinking but, you cant really call it a resto when your swapping in non stock parts. Different engine parts to make it run correctly on unleaded fuel is one thing, but aftermarket wheels and lowered springs no longer make it a resto IMO. Personally, I feel the car should appear and drive at least 99% stock. That means OEM paint color too. Again, just my opinion.

I can understand modding an 85, but i cant stand seeing a perfectly restorable '55 being modded all to he//.
With the 403, the performance parts I'm using are parts made when the car was new, just period modifications, I don't consider them to far out of a resto. The extractors I make will be based on an old set too. The car will look stock but will just have some extra power, which it certainly needs! I don't know how people with less powerful cars keep up with traffic, my car wasn't exactly slow in it's day and you really have to push it to keep up with the other cars on the road.
About the 505, the wheels are actually modified factory alloys, You see a option was a special wheel to suit a special 390mm tires that had a unique bead, Michelin made made them, they were known as the TRX tire. Michelin stop producing them in the early 1990s. So you literally cannot get them and seeing as they are 390mm=15.35" and have a special bead normal tyres wont fit those wheels. So basically the only way to use the wheels is to modify them. What's happened is the centres have been machined out and Nissan Skyline outer rims have been welded on. So the wheels Look like standard 505 GTi alloys just with a little more dish and 16" tyres on them. I have no idea what the springs are off, they came with a spare parts car, probably from a 604 or something, I can't see someone getting springs custom made for a car like this. Their stiffer and a few inches lower so they should make it corner even better

. God the French knew how to make a car handle!
As for the computer and the exhaust, well that's just me wanting it to have mare power, also, better fuel economy. Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection is so crap.

With the standard computer it will rev to 6000, with the aftermarket computer and the standard exhaust it'l rev to 6400-6500(It has 3 mufflers!). With the exhaust they rev to 7300 before the valves float, and given this things ridiculous cam shaft specs, the more revs the better

.
I'm never going to pretend this is an as factory resto but Just making the car abit better than what it was when it came out of the factory, as well as being more usable in the modern age. The body and interior are going to stay factory though, as will the colour, I see no point in modifying them, they all do their job as well as they possibly could. It's still a restoration for the most part, most of it is just fixing peoples bodge jobs on it :rolleyes3:.
The poor thing has been neglected most of it's life, I love this car, I'l never sell it.
Thanks
Hayden
