jandj, you should post up some pics of your sons car. Is this a stock restoration or a "restoration" involving lots of unoriginal parts?

Right now it's completely stock, bought from the original owner, came w/ a set of '65 plates.
It's going back as stock as he can afford!

I have way too many hobbies and when I get in to one I go all the way. One is RC cars I have a brushless lipo traxxas stampede and a brushless lipo 4 tec both go 60-65 mph. I've been into paint ball for a while. Last year I finally bought my favorite gun a cci phantom. It's very accurate and light and quickly became my favorite gun.

cool guys, i wish i had a real car to restore =P
pics

Its funny, this car has been sitting in my uncles workshop getting in the way for years. I dont know why i waited till this summer to ask him if i could take it over. The car is his(for now:D) which means hes paying for everything, including compensating me for my work. Its a great way to learn the ins and outs of cars; no power steering, no power brakes, no A/C, no complicated electronics. This sort of stuff is what id like to do for a living, so im considering it work experience:wai:

yeah well my rc car helped me learn inside basics of cars, because it had drive shafts, differentials, clutch, a arms, and the ignition is a glow plug. 70% methanol it revvs up to 40,000 rpm which makes them last for about 8 gallons of fuel most, but so far i have less than a gallon through my latest 4.6cc engine

I too, am restoring a car. It's a 1957 Peugeot 403. Quite a nice car IMO, right now I'm rebuilding the engine, I found some old high compression race pistons for her, that'l bring the compression ratio up to a whopping 8:1 :roflol:. I've got a twin carb manifold too. I'l make up my own extractors, I'm aiming for a huge 80HP, up from the factory 62HP :roflol:. Not bad for a 53 year old 1.5 litre engine though.

I've also got my 1985 Peugeot 505 which I'l do a minor resto on once I've finished the 403s engine. Just fix the little rust that's there and give it a respray, I'l rebuild the engine too, it's done 600'000kms and its never had the head off, doesn't burn oil and still has plenty of power, bit low on compression though. I've got some nice wide alloys for it and some lowered springs, I'l make a 2.5 inch exhaust system for it and I'l get an after-market computer, that should unleash a few ponies! :D

I'm also collecting parts to build a 1920s style ute (pickup). Just need and engine and rear axle now :D. I think I know where I can get an axle, finding a rebuild able side valve engine is proving a bit tricky though. It wont be road legal, just a farm hack but still should be plenty of fun!

So as you've probably figured, cars, buggies, motorbikes, basically anything mechanical isn't just my hobby, it's my life...

Thanks

Hayden
