Got the 3hp Briggs on there. The mount has the engine sitting way back behind the axle, maybe this is for chain adjustment...? Also got a free clutch, 15 tooth. Heres a mock up waiting on rear wheel hubs.

Nice hubs. Good job thinkin outside the box.

1/2 of your motor mount is correct, the other half is not. Most of the time when people hang the motor off the back is because there was a motor with a front-mount gas tank that got in the way of the seatback. Google "vintage kart floating mount". You'll see steel and stainless mounts you can bolt to your axle and move that Briggs forward. Or if you plan to change to a more correct 2 stroke powerplant, you can just get the other 1/2 of the motor mount that matches your motor and bolt em together.

You leavin' those frame supports on? Rigid frame + soft compound tires=accident waiting to happen. Be careful!

Found the gear ratio for the 3hp was not possible. Put on a 72 tooth. (notice the quick change saw cut) Moved to the mount down and forward to keep the same chain length. Road test proves way fast down hill, and need 30' turn it around.... too much traction for the dead end road we live on. Will be a blast in a big lot once we get the little things finished up. New floor pan, clean off some extra weight on the engine mount. Paint...

Still need to connect the foot pedal to the throttle cable. Any ideas??

I'm keeping an eye open for the front number plate and seat cushions that went on this frame. Anyone got extra parts??

Can I assume the rod running down the side is connected to the accelerator pedal? If so all you have to do is create a similar setup to what you have now but mounted on the rail further in. make it extend beyond where the cable connects & attach the end to the rod (as shown in this crude pic
