I want it because i would add it to my collection... or make a small generator for the back of my truck with it... i love old things.... im getting a old coke machine from a freind if i can talk his dad into selling it =) its from 1950 or 60 cant remember....

If its an adjustable carb and you don't mind losing the governor, sure. Play with that updraft for a while and you will learn to love it. In any event an air filter won't hurt anything.

could you explain more about govenor, i know it has something to do with limiting rpm:confused::confused:

it prevents it from going boom when stupid person running it wide open for long amounts of time... it limits it were you can hold the throtal open and it wont go boom from excesive reving...

well i like old things that work and dont throw rods like olympic people throw javalins....

so i can run the engine without the govenor without hurting the engine...

um unless you plan on havin it peged then you will throw a rod like a olympic person.... id keep the gov.. and keep the carb. just do as russ said and check the flywheel key if it is sheared... and if that dont work remove the carb and play around with it take it apart and clean it out good. then see how it goes.. and use the adjusment screws (idle,lowspeed and highspeed if its old enough...)

what will happen if a flywheel key is sheared?? sori for the questions but i'm new to this and thnx for the help:thumbsup:

it will act like a squirl on crack... fire then wont fire may start up then may die may not start may pop may spit fire out the carb may eat a third world country... pretty werid crap...

squirl on crack..... LOL i checked the flywheel and it seems to be fine and i just took the carb off hoping for some miracles

ok well did you acctualy remove the flywheel? just pull the starter cup off and the flywheel off cause looking on the outside its hard to tell if its sheered or not...

but if i keep playing with the throtle the engine 'll keep running, if i let go then it will turn of..

oh
ok then just turn in the idle screw.. it should be a screw that pushes against a arm to keep the throtal plate open enough letting the right fuel air mix in there....

i was thinking that maybe its getting too muhc fuel or so, like last there was fuel drippin from the carb, this isn't normal right??

find were its dripping from then take a picture were your pointing cause that will help a good bit.. lot of these updraft carbs leak like crap..
