I'll admit that part of it is selfish on my part. It does help in sourcing parts sometimes, and occasionally members get together and would not know they were that close except for the profile location.
It's funny that a new member will say: "Hello, new here (like we don't know) from Anytown USA ", then proceed to give us their life story, but not spend 2 minutes filling out a profile.

Maybe with your OCD about location you should petition the forum to make it a mandatory box during the registration process.
Many forums do, and this forum has the largest amount of members who don't have a location of any of the forums I'm on or have been on.
Robert has chosen not to do that.
