I've had the scooter laying around for a few years, I picker it up for nothing so, it's a bit rough, but it's time to do something with it

What I've done so far.

The first thing to do was create some kind of connection between the engine & the frame; a few bits of 1" angle, enter fabroman & we have engine mounts.

Then I had to "modify" the cowling to accomodate the angle so it didnt interfere with the clutch.

A bit of work with the dremel, a rasp, file & a box cutter & we have checkouts.

Put it all together & everything fits like a glove

I have now

I'm, sort of, going for something similar but with the engine centred to assist balance (because the engine weighs nearly as much as the scooter) It will have a chain driven shaft with a roller on the tyre so, technically, a friction drive.

The next thing to do was somehow attach a sprocket to the clutch drum. I cut the original 1/4" shaft drive off, a bit of fancy lathe work & a few small TIG welds & we have a sprocket retainer.

P.S. Yes, I will be using bicycle sprockets & chain on this project; with the limited torque of the engine, I can't see it breaking in a hurry.

P.P.S. This is not going to be a 2 week build, what with everything else I have going on ATM...

- This will be an interesting build for me, as have such an engine laying around here too waiting for a scooter.
- I've seen people on youtube removing that clutch because it was too weak. Are you sure it will handle the load?
- Did you do any cutting on the clutch? My clutch is in the begin round but then it transforms into a square with a hole in. Did you remove that part?

No, but it's not much of a load. I'll just have to see how it goes

If he didn't bend it you might have been able to fit it into a standard envelope.

Si your sprocket is only being held onto the clutch with a few set screws tightened into the dimples clutch cover? Do you think that is going to hold up? I am just worried that the set screws are going to strip out of the dimples you have drilled

I like the idea with attaching the sprocket to the clutch and keeping the weight even, if it works might even try it myself

Like you say, if it works on a kart, it will more than likely work here
