Hope thus is in the right place; apologies in advance if not-
Trying to soften the ride on my wife’s powerchair- and I’ve got wheels and tires, now need to connect to 25mm diameter motor shafts - photo is what i’m trying for .
On a rear hub, ( for example, 25mm X 115mm ) does the split-clamp portion fit the 25mm axle diameter? If so, and i can track down some fairly long ones - 4” or so, should work.
Thanks ahead of time - sounds like alot of knowledgeable folks here!

25mm is only 16 thou off 1"... You might be able to get away with 1" hubs if they have the right sort of locking mechanism. A tapered QD type might be able to squeeze down enough, or a split collar.

Some pics of the disassembled rear end might be helpful...

This is sort of uncharted territory for most of us here.

Off the top of my head, I would suggest doing some searching on robotics sites. I know power chair motors are very popular for robotics, like battlebots and stuff. They might have some suggestions as well.

In case you or anybody else needs it, 1” = 25.4mm. Lots of people use something like 2.5cm(idk exactly because I don’t use it), but once you get into the larger numbers, using 2.5cm gives the incorrect conversion.

Btw, I learned this in my Machining class.

Btw, I learned this in my Machining class.
25.4mm = 2.54cm= 0.0254 meters
25mm = 2.5cm = 0.025 meters
Study up on significant figures if interested.

At UIUC, g=9.81 m/s^2
At EIU, they use 9.8 and I was wondering what happened to the precision.

If you don't go to the 5th decimal point when using Pi in your calculations, ugghhh. LOL

Hadn’t considered robotics, but sure worth a look. Shafts measure .984” with my cheap digital calipers, so that’s why the 25mm starting point.
If I can get her to stay off the chair long enough . . . I’ll get some pics!

25mm isn't unseen indeed.. chances are it's either chinese or european made

First the good news.. in case the 1" hubs will fail on you for not being tight enough to clamp that metric shaft,
you can find metric hubs all over the world (at the expenses of shipping fees.. sure)
finding a chinese seller on ebay or such makes that a LOT easier.
just search for "25mm kart hub" and you'll surely find some..
be aware though american based sellers take crazy money
(114 bucks for two.. where around here one can be had for 20 bucks)
So check non US based sellers first ;)

If that's a bit too tedious for you because say your bolthole circle is NOT that of a std metric kart wheel (it unlikely is, right;))
you can go to your local machinist shop and ask for 0.2mm shim steel (a 1"x4" strip will suffice I guess)
just cut it to size and wrap that around the axle (leave the keyway alone)
and there you have it a shimmed 25.4mm axle (or what you'd call an inch ;))
shouldn't cost you more than maybe a buck or two

If you hubs are clamping you shouldn't need to worry though..
usually clamped hubs do not ever close up on a shaft..
so chances are you can just tighten it down as if it's an imperial axle.
And if it's too loose you could still file down the lands slightly to allow it to close even tighter
in case you can't find the shimsteel locally for example ;)
