So please remind me, this was the 14cc head or the 18cc head?
Either way, it looks like it will flow nice.

Great thread!!

These tires are pretty much slated for practicing on the track and figuring out the chassis setup. When we actually start racing I'll probably order some professionally prepared tires new. These are all good used ones, and some are gooder than others.
Head Is an 18cc. I'm going to try it because I like how much less valve shrouding there is. That's about the port shape I had in the 14cc. I had it off and ported it 4 different times trying to figure out where the woopow is hiding.

I just did the math on the compression and it appears that with the 18cc head that I figure to be more like 19-20 now will put me right at 10:1 compression, so I guess I'll have to mill it. I have a friend with a Bridgeport and fly cutters, so I'll probably just do it myself. With a 14cc head my compression comes out to 12.97:1, so I guess if I can whittle 4cc's off of it, then that's what I'll do. I'd be happier at 14:1, but I'll take what I can get at this point.

On another note, getting a 14cc big valve head built is not as easy as it may seem at first. I have been talking to two nationally recognized engine builders, and they have quit answering messages. My money is good, and I didn't ask for anything more than them to use their own judgement for what would work best with my combo. Whatever, I can just do it myself, but I really wanted to see what a professionally ported race head looked like on the inside. Updates as they happen.

Intake port. Before you blast off to the shop to try to replicate this port job, please bear in mind that I spec'd this head for 8500rpm use.

Took the kart to a play day at one of our local dirt tracks. Cool people and a lot of fun until I backed it into a corner post on turn 4. I managed to knock the post loose in the ground, left about a 1/4" imprint of my wheel and bent the snot out of my axle. This is the post, I'll post pics of the axle tomorrow.
