Figured since we dont have a noob section, I'll create a thread where we can post up noob questions :idea2: SORRY FOR THE NOOBNESS guys. :roflol: I'll start:

I need a tool to adjust my chain (add/take out links). What would you guys recommend? Also where can I find the actual link that comes with a tiny clip to hold the entire chain together? (mine fell off and I cant find it anywhere)

You need what is called a chain breaker. You can usually get one at a hardware store along with your new connector links.

You can also grind or file the ends of the pins on the link to be removed and drive them out with a hammer and punch. These tools can also be bought at the hardware store. I recommend this route as these tools are more versatile and you probably already have them. The chainbreaker is nice but will hardly ever be used.

You really don't want a master link, the chain breaker will separate and reconnect the chain without using a master link.
This is the best kind of chain tool, IMHO:

:iagree:

When I first started out using master links, all my kart buddies made fun of me till I bought a chain breaker and taught myself how to corectly use it.

The style of chainbreaker that was posted pushes the pins back in just as it was when it was manufactured, ;)

if you dont have cash to buy a breaker ,,just take you chain and put it in a vise , center punch the pins out to get chain apart then get vise grips to press it back together ...works every time

the breaker i have really breaks the chain... i absolutely have to use a masterlink to get the chain back together...

the center punch method might get frusrtating if you punch out the pin completely out... good luck getting it back in LOL

you dont have to grind off the ends. i dont even punch one pin all the way through. i just tap out both sides a little bit so one side plate comes off. When i first found out it was possible i went crazy and made a few long chains out of about 50 short sections i had lol

WELL i wouldnt trust a tecumseh ungoverned myself. But to take out the governor simply drain the oil, remove side cover, remove plastic governor gear, remove governor arm, and plug the hole where the governor arm was with a bolt. Then you just need to rig up a throttle cable directly to the carb.

i dont think i'm going to go threw all that just yet. i mean i already got oil leaking from where the governor arm comes out of the engine block but i keep the oil in it so i should be good for now...when it blows im going to Kholer

if you could, maybe you can take some pictures outlining the process, and we can add it to the website. (maybe we can even get a "how to" section :) )

How to...

If we could lets talk to someone about not only the NooB section but a How to on simple and maybe even some complex mods and repairs. That would make this site alot more interesting and easy to navigate threw.:censored:
