Thanks for the pic and link. hmmm shifter cable...

The pic idea would work if the seat wasn't in the way. I *could* run the rods under the seat but then the'd hit the ground. I wonder if I can find something like that shifter cable locally. If not, I could always order one from summit. thanks!

You might try advanced auto parts or a local speed shop.May be a auto tranny shop. The cables are used for a b&m,Quick shifter ect.You could take the pic to a company that makes cables and tell them I want this and give them a length.

I think I might just mock up a cable and go to the junkyard tomorrow (weather permitting) and see if I can find something close. Not too keen on spending $50 or so on a brand new unit.

I'm cheap. :sifone:

Was too busy to go to the junkyard today. Had to stay home and wait for the mattress delivery people. Ends up I ordered the wrong sprocket off ebay so I went and ordered what I believe is the correct one. I still have to do some math and figure out what rear sprocket I should get. Im pretty sure the kart would be pretty slow with the existing rear.

Worked a couple hours on the motor mount and shifter linkage controls. Here are the results. Still waiting on a front sprocket to start making permanent holes, etc. I gotta figure out how I'm gonna get fuel to the motor too. Gravity and stuff...

hmm, i dunno if this engine is to big but normal track karts work on a vaccuum type basis dont they? the engine more or less 'sucks' the fuel in?

because there fuel tanks are mounted in between your legs when you are in the kart. may or may not work for this engine though!

You can pick up a mikuni fuel pump that runs off the pulse out of your crank case if theres a nipple for it.

ya I think thats what im gonna do. Ive already bid on one on ebay. Bike already has a crank case breather so that should do for the pulse :)

Ok well quick update: (sorry no pics).

Got some better tires
finalized the motor mount
disassembled the rear axle in prep for the new sprocket (22t)
Got a 428 chain
Got a 428 sprocket for the motor
Made a bracket to hold the coil
Got my fuel pump

All I need now:
some fuel line
install the seat
hook up a clutch lever
re-do the brake lines...they broke
replace some rear-axle hardware (rusty)
Shorten the chain
hook up the fuel pump
find a suitable gas tank

It is a lot more work than I orignially thought :(

125cc 4-stroke from a chinese bike

I havent welded much to the frame (1 thing if I remember) but I've been using my harbor freight flux-core for all of the welding.

I've also got a Snap-On MIG but have been too lazy to fill the cylinder.

Did some work on the car today. I got my sprocket. It's the closest thing I could find to what I needed. 428 chain, 22t and 30mm. Unfortunately I have a 1.25" axle. Spent about 2.5hr with a die grinder making it work and another 15 minutes breaking the chain. I think I still need to remove 1 link.

Sprocket on

New fatty tires

Motor mount is *probably* done. I may need to widen one of the holes to allow for alignment but i'm pretty sure it's within 3 degrees of perfect....I hope
