I wanna see everyones non kart projects. Mine include a '62 Chris Craft Ski Boat (with a 283 V8), '72 Chrysler Stryper, a '62 Plymouth Fury (with a 225 slant6), and a few other odd projects.

nice...

Heres mine:
I bought a mini moto/pocket bike, i decided to keep the bike and restore it, I changed it to half fairing, replaced the clutch, bought a pullstart, new plug, new bearings (wheels), new brakes, repaired main fairing, added a light, added a chain guard, put a tensioner on it, resprayed it, done a bit of stencilling on the fairing lol, turned the rear axle down to m8 for a nice thread, replaced rear sprocket, replaced chain, added a few rubber to take out some vibration, replaced all bolts, added a leaf spring to prevent the fairing snapping again, replaced fuel lines, replaced brake cables and made a stand for it.

I'm building something which should end up similar to this (if I can stomach all that fibreglass work):

CAD model of the chassis with a few components put in. Took AGES to get proper front and rear geometry, have had to read many suspension design books.

Where I was up to a few days ago:

Building it with mechanicals from this 2002 Subaru Impreza RS I bought at auction for cheap.

Cheers guys,

the tubing is 25x25x1.6 and 20x20x1.6 for bracing. It's what most cars of this type are made of. There's no need to use thicker tubing, in fact some people use 1.2mm thick wall tube to save weight. If any increase in strength is required then you use 30x30x1.6 or 40x40x1.6, but it's not necessary. This frame will be stiffer than almost any production car available.

Toystory it's not going to be AWD, the Subie engine is mid mounted and just drives the rear wheels through the original FWD outputs. The propshaft output is removed along with the centre diff. This means it will be mid-engined and RWD.

Thank you that thing is sweet! Light is a sweet add on. It just looks better than a Shucks one in general.

And I guess those things do crumple to be like an eighth of their original size, don't they? What are you planning to do with it when it's finished modelengineer?

You know if anyone scratches that thing, I'd say it's safe to bet you'll go insane.

To sum it up; Best idea in the world.

Lol thanks, I hope I never find out what happens if it get's scratched. I'm more afraid of not being seen in traffic. The car will be just over 1.1m from the ground to the roof (that's 43.3").

How many people will it seat?

It will be a 2 seater.

Cheers,
Andrew

Ok, Fowler not your best idea but we'll let it slide. This is where the whole overpowered buggy funeral plans are needed.
