Nick in my engine.. serious?

There's a good ding in the block of my 5hp briggs flathead.. How serious do you people think it is?

Also on a side note another question. A blue level restrictor plate was on my carb with a gasket on either side. Is it safe to plug my carb right in with one gasket, should I use two, or do I need an insulator of some sort?

Not serious at all, perfectly runnable, not weakening anything. You should use one thick gasket on the intake.
