Hey, what size chain does this thing use? I just bought the GoPowerSports 40 series CVT and it came with a 1- 10T Sprocket for 40/41/420 chain but it doesn't fit the original sprocket on the rear axle. I want to utilize the original rear axle sprocket so I need to get a new sprocket for the CVT.

It's either that or find a rear axle sprocket that will fit.

Any help is much appreciated.

You are going to have to measure the distance between the teeth on the axle sprocket to figure out what pitch chain it uses. Post your results here and we can help you

I measured the chain and I got roughly 18mm using calipers, or 5/8" using a tape. I think that means it's a #50 chain. I ordered a #50 sprocket and it should be here shortly. That should confirm or disprove me for sure. I'll let you all know.

The carter talon doesnt use the 40 series cvt unless you changed the motor. The stock motor comes with that incorporated. You just need a reverse assembly. I have to look back at the chain i used but it was much bigger than i got when i ordered my cvt and learned i didnt need it

I went with a 530 chain. But i used a stock gy6 engine.

My crossfire (which is similar to yours) runs both 530 motorcycle chain #50 industrial.
520 can be used also in a pinch iirc.

Yeah, I realize the thing doesn't come with a 40 series CVT, I said I bought one... :cheers2:

I just ended up painting the frame over the weekend. I'm waiting on a calm day to put a coat of clear on it. I did lots of other mods too. Hopefully I can post them soon...

ok, the frame is painted. I'm happy with the way it turned out. I'm putting a 420 engine on the thing so I have done lots of welding, grinding and painting. I thought I had the drivetrain all figured out but it sounds like I have to get reworked. Anyway, enjoy the pics.
