I am thinking of getting rid using heim joints

from what I am gathering the heim joints purpose is to allow for vertical movement when in the suspension? or can you explain to me in depth, I have looked into it some but cant quit grasp its purpose?

I didn't quite finish the diagram, however the thing is I would have 0 caster, would this be a issues?
