Been real busy lately with a new daughter but I’ve been able to get some stuff going on the Am Ex. I made some mounting brackets for my hydraulic brake caliper. Just have to weld it up. Gonna put my built up motor with the 26mm Nibbi carb on this kart.

Should run and stop real nice.

I’ve done a lot of mods to this AM Ex. I cut the motor plate out and moved it back 2-3 inches. Made a 1 1/2” riser plate for the motor. Today I made this carb shock. It should absorb a lot of vibration from the carb sticking so far out. Totally adjustable.

I noticed alot of bounce to the carb while I’ve been running this new motor for break in. This should solve the problem.

The original seat supports are garbage on these AM Ex’s. Flimsy metal and poorly designed. Half the welds were broken. I fabricated some new supports. I am also going to weld a thick piece of steel plate on the back of the seat to protect my organs in case of a catastrophic motor failure. The original seat pads will bolt over the new supports.

I really like what you've done with this cart. I almost picked up this same style cart (different motor) but didn't . Now that I see what you have done I really wished I would have. Your build has encouraged me to want to start looking again.

They’re nice frames but a little short up front. I’ve thought about buying one of the longer frames from GPS but the $300 shipping cost is discouraging.

I looked at those also and agree shipping way to high. If I'm lucky enough to find this style frame I think I would try to extend the front enough (in front of the steering unit) to mount the peddles. Hoping this would give me the leg room to fit me. Looking forward to seeing your finished cart.

I actually used to work in the emergency room down there in Portland. I only get to work on my projects sporadically now due to having a 22 month and a 5 month old kid. Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that. I checked out your build and it’s looking to be quite the speed demon. Welded on the 10 gauge plate to the seat back. No worries if the motor blows up now. Night and day difference between welding with the HF welder and my new Hobart!

Lookin good, how are you dealing with the stickers on the floor pan? If it were me, I'd ditch the stickers, scan them, and repaint them for durability.

I think ribbed rubber going down the floor pan would look sweet, but you kart...and I didn't know rubber diamond plate exists. Still think it will look quite good with rubber diamond plate.

Here’s the rubber diamond plate. Got it from Auto Zone. It’s for a truck bed but can be cut to fit anything. I use it on all my karts.

I had some time over the past few days to work on my Am Ex. I sanded it down to the metal. Primed it and painted it with Massey Ferguson red from TSC.
