Iv'e recently started a new project regarding an old go kart, and my plans are to swap an old predator 212 with some modifications, for a brand-new Lifan 200cc 5-speed. I bought the engine from ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIFAN-200CC...ash=item2a2997e783:g:SdMAAOxyi-ZTYZ~A&vxp=mtr) I need help because I have no experience with electrical things on engines, wiring is very new to me. I've taken advice from somebody regarding problems with the connector pins being in the wrong spot, but i have no idea how to wire the entire thing together. I have a battery coming in the mail, which i'm guessing i'll need. From my point of view, every single wire, plug, and other parts connected to those wires and plugs make no sense to me. I would greatly appreciate help with the wiring. I also need help with assembling a lot of other parts on the engine such as attaching fuel line to the carburetor which doesn't fit well, the fuel line is a bit bigger than the fitting, and I also need help with the exhaust. The problem with the exhaust, is that I can't find a single pipe online that would fit this engine, I bought one pipe and it didn't quite fit. A big problem is that mostly everybody is putting this engine in a bike or some sort of frame that fits it perfectly, but since I'm putting this in a go kart, I have to do cut and weld the pipe so its not sticking 3 feet out the back, to be honest, I'm completely capable of doing that, but i run into problems when I try to fit the pipe to the exhaust port on the engine, nothing online tells me that it definitely fits a lifan 200cc engine, most of them say "LIFAN HONDA DIRTBIKE ATV PIPE" some say 110cc 70cc 150cc etc, but I haven't found one that supports the 200cc engine. Any help would be great. If you need any links or anything, ask. Thank you.

Here are some pictures that could help. they are mainly of the wiring harness and most of the electrical parts that come with it, one picture is of the carburetor, showing the problem with the fuel line being too big for the fitting, and pictures of the engine itself. Sorry about the upside-down couple of pictures. http://www.bmikarts.com/Transparent-Fuel-Line-_p_907.html <- this is the link for the exact fuel line I bought.

Yea, I already watched that video and I fixed the problem he was talking about, but when I closely examined the harness he has and compared it to mine, some of the parts weren't right, so I couldn't use the video to piece together my harness on my engine because some of the plugs didn't go together :(

well then..

the third pic is your contactor (that one attaches to the battery, a switch and the starter motor (black connector on pic 9))
fourth is the CDI module (green plug on engine) metal body should make electrical contact with the chassis (ground)
fifth: the light harness the thingamabob(pic 7) is your indicator relay.. connects to the battery (red and black terminals) a light switch (smaller plugs pic 6) and the engine with the big one.
then theres your ignition coil.
needs to be bolted to the engine (ground) and should either connect to the harness (some plug) or directly to the battery (unlikely..) with the small tab on it's lower end.

And there you are, everything's wired up already
Yes, you might need a keyswitch in order to start the engine, maybe even a seperate pushbutton and the like...
OR (easier) the original wiring schematics [ask the seller for that]

your reply was extremely helpful, i might need help with this actually doing what you said i'm supposed to do, but thank you anyways. for the contactor, battery, etc. part could i buy this http://www.kazumausaonline.com/key-switch-lifan-200-p-9794.html (would it be helpful?) I will probably also need help with actually connecting the battery to the contactor or the switch. I learn best by knowing what each parts does, i can usually piece things together if i know what they do. Thank you.

Well, I told you what each part does, didn't I ?

Frankly it cannot be simpler than what you have; each connector on the engine fits exactly ONE connector on the harness.
if by chance there are two connectors with the same pincount and formfactor, they're color coded...

Anyways, you really should find the engines manual, that should contain a full wiring diagram.

Personally IDK if that's the matching keyswitch...
I'd think you need a four position switch or a three pos switch plus starter button (like most motorcycles have) so that's what I'd opt for.
But to know for sure you'll need to know what the engine (or more precise your wiring harness) asks for.
Most of the time you can tell by looking at the connector ...

Really, get the manual or at least the wiring diagram; although this harness is pretty straight forward,
we cannot say what's missing to have everything covered correctly.
we (I at least) can only guess, when it comes down to which kind of switch or if another set of fuses is recommended between the engine/lights and the battery..
We can't tell what set of lights you want to power if any, nor what lightswitch you'll need to do so properly.

I think I've finally understood the wiring diagram, I looked at it at first and I thought there would be an easier way. I think I can look at everything else and figure it out. Although there's a symbol/wire that I don't understand on the diagram. The top right of the diagram there's a red/white wire that has a M on it. I just don't understand what I'm supposed to do there. I've got the red fuse thing connected to the battery and relay, but I don't know what I'm supposed connect between the other bolt/pin on the relay to the - battery spot and what I'm supposed to do with the starter cable, should I connect it to the relay? Or the battery? Sorry if I'm asking to much. I'm only 15.

I think you misunderstood my post Riley; sorry for that!

No you cannot ask too many questions!
And we're willing to help with most of your questions happily and as precisely as we can.

BUT likely we cannot answer everything and sometimes make mistakes ourselves.

Post the wiring schematics and we can guide you through.
an M in a circle for example is commonly used as a symbol for an electric Motor (if so.. likely that'll be your starter motor)
but without seeing what you see, we cannot explain other than by guessing.
So.. pics required.

For now, pick a part that you know what it does (physical part) and find in in the schematics, follow each line and see where it goes.. do the same with the physical wire and see where that'll lead you.
that way your brain will have an easier time following both the schmeatics (remembering the actual part) and the wiring in the end (remembering the schematics).

The best learning experience you'll get if you figure something out yourself (reward hormones and such)
but if you're stuck at any point; be sure to ask ... if we can, we will help you out for sure!

if it comes to details though, provide us with pics whenever possible (screenshots of the manual or what have you)

So I've been researching more and using trial and error, and I've figured almost everything out. the only thing left is the starter solenoid
SWITCH. I already order a starter button that i think would work, but it doesn't seem like it would be compatible with each other. my contactor/starter solenoid has two wires coming out, one ground and the other is power to the starter motor, although that starter wire isn't like a plug ( i know I've probably posted a picture of it) so i cant just plug it into the switch i ordered (i also gave link to the switch i ordered) pls help sid, you the best. btw im sooo close to starting it, so excited:thumbsup:

Sorry Riley;
I stayed clear for a few, mainly because I got a little frustrated by the misunderstanding we seem to have.

I'm perfectly able to google "sort of" correct wiring diagrams; that's NOT what I was asking you to find.
I asked you to find THE EXACT DIAGRAM for your engine;
google the exact model number.

Engines likes yours come in several different flavours, and most of the time the only difference is how they're going to be wired (which CDI is shipped with it, which kind of switches are expected to be wired [light, start, main] what other accessories are expected [horn, e-start..])
You can buy a Lifan 200 with the exact same mechanical layout and very different wires.

And since you didn't want a guess, the exact diagram is key!
especially if you want to know what kind of switches you will need.

So, that google link you posted really got me on the wrong foot.
I haven't made myself clear enough, or maybe you misread my previous "find the diagram" ...
IDK, and it took some time for me to not care about that anymore :D

Now, Solenoid... easy:
a solenoid is an electrical switch with a trigger side (the two wires in the sleeve) and a power side (the two terminals on top)
adding power to the two small wires (12V) will connect the two terminals for serious amps to pass.

One Terminal goes directly to the battery (just like you already have) the other one goes directly to the positive lead of the starter motor.

Now the trigger part: (the hard one)
both wires should be connected to a starter button whereas one (likely the green striped one) will eventually be grounded, and the other one ends up being powered with 12V @low amps as soon and long as the button is pushed [momentary switch]

The question is: what kind of starter button does your harness expect; I can't tell;
I can only guess it'll be some sort of handlebar controls. (including more than just the starter button)

Yes, you can use about any momentary switch you like (as long as it's indeed a momentary one)
you can even skip it and just probe the battery terminal with the red striped wire (having the green striped attached to the metal frame or the negative battery terminal)
That'll work for testing purposes.

The thing is, you want a switch that's up for the task (how many watts can it handle, is it waterresistant, is there a delay.. does it have a security circuit (does the clutch need to be disengaged to start) I can't tell

You can figure that all out on your own, if you're careful and patient that's just a matter of probing and testing with a multimeter and some basic understanding of what's what.

And thus..
Sorry, I will not answer any question about what switch you will need (chances are I'm incorrect anyways ;))

Your best bet is to contact the seller of the engine and ask him for "his switches"
so you know what you're searching for.

I know i got the exact engine from ebay, and the model number was LIFAN 200cc EN25 5spd
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIFAN-200CC...DIRT-BIKE-ATV-GOKART-H-EN25-SET-/181086447491

I just recently wanted to test if i had spark by touching the starter wire and the positive red wire, and the starter motor works  A green wire started barely smoking, I'm guessing its because it wasn't grounded, i feel like what i did should be common sense, but this is the first time learning about any of this, sorry.

For some reason I've searched everywhere online and i cant find info about my specific engine, i can barely get info about the lifan 200 in general, so i didn't think it would be possible to get any info about the specific eBay deal engine. Ill try to call the ebay seller again about the engine, but when i did before, it was a clueless receptionist. Its almost i'm possible to find an exact diagram for this engine.

All I really need too do is find a switch for the solenoid, even if your wrong you could send a link of switch that might work, anything is appreciated. I have posted a picture of the solenoid wires. Thanks sid your my only hope.

Here's the same vendor but different site http://www.pccmotor.com/wiring-diagrams.html What's the model number say on the plate? Should be kind of LASER etched in a small piece of Aluminum or Steel.

This is why I hate electrical...they always give you gremlins to deal with...hate fuel injection. Give me a carburetor any day and everyday, twice on Tuesdays. Cold just run it without the electric start and just kick start it, might save you the headache and just figure out the lighting (if that's your main goal) on the stator and battery.
