New predator motor won’t run right!!

Hey guys so I’m putting a predator motor in my daughters quad and it won’t run right at all, first off I removed the original exhaust and put on a straight pipe, I took off the fuel tank and I cut the air filter housing all up to fit! I have a filter in it but it runs the same with or with out the filter, so my issues are I can get it to run with the choke on at a 1/4 throttle and above and if I block off the intake completely it runs a lot better but it won’t run with the choke off unless it’s wot! Any suggestions? I can’t trade it for a new one due to what I’ve done to get it to fit, do you think a stage 1 carb kit would fix it or do I have other issues?

Have you tried cleaning the carb? Could be some crap from the gas tank and lines got into it. Could be crap left over from the manufacturing process too... That's not unheard of, especially with cheap Chinese products.

Might need to jet the carb too. You give it more air, it needs more fuel too.

So I did clean the carb and I just drilled out the jet slightly larger to see if it would help and it didn’t change it at all

.038but I did find only half a gasket on the back side of the black plate between the carb and head manufacturer defect maybe but now it runs a lot better but is a touch rich so I guess I need to buy a new stock jet

I'd go to a lawnmower or tool rental shop and ask if they have anything like that, in their junk bin.
Might be able to pick up a bunch for really cheap or free...

Worked for me a couple of times...
