STarted it the other night.
Starts good. Runs good. I put the belt on just to see how the clutch system works. Works very nicely. I have to get a few spacers for the rear wheel to hold it in place, and I have to key all the shafts and get a bolt for the crank, and a throttle cable to drive it around a bit.

I would have done most of that by now, but have been busy with other things.
We just put together my dads motorized bike.
That thing is fun, Now I cant wait for mine.

In fact, I think I am going to go get a battery and cable for it tonight.

Maybe I Will get a vid of it starting..

The headers on it now are F-N loud. I put a tractor muffler I have on it now and it sounds tons better. So with some decent pipes, it ought to sound pretty sexy.

OK! I just read all 12 pages of this post and STILL NO VIDEO!!!:2guns:

Ya know those old xs650's are popular bikes to make into hardtailed choppers. With your fab skills you should cut the neck and rake that front end!

What did u get the 18hp off of if u don't mind me asking???

I swapped a guy on craigslist for my go kart (building one later)

He said it was off a industrial power washer.

All I know is that I'm happy because the hoizontal twins are a pain in the A$$ to find where I live.:wai:

Hey Ray,

Did you have any trouble getting your twin to turn over?

Theres a whole site dedicated to the 650's. I have the 1100, a bit different to the 650.

no video cause he works for a living give him time world dont revolve around you man.

Lol, Yea, I have been working tons this summer. I will get a video eventually, I was planning on getting one with the throttle cable and gas tank on. Maybe have it wired too, So I'm not starting it with jumper cables.

Hey Ray,

Mine turns over fine, as long as you have a good power source.
I tried using a battery charger, which usually works for my engines before, but it wouldn't throw the starter gear out hard enough to engage the flywheel. So I had to jump from the Truck. Other than that, Mine turns over pretty good, and starts good as well.

Did you happen to get the pressured oil Model engine?

I guess I need to find the model number. If it's not that then the starter is probably shot. I jumped it off my truck and it turns like one stroke and then stops and is slow at that.

Its easy to tell, if you dont know, you probably dont have one.
If it has an oil filter on it, then you got the pressure lube one.

I thought none of the briggs opposed twins were true pressure lube?

I'm not sure what you mean by "true" But I've only seen a few with oil filters on them. I felt lucky to find an opposed around here, let alone one with the oil filter.

Well, I finally got around to getting the hardware to locate my shafts and chain and such.
I could start it up right now and it would drive, unfortunatley...It would go in reverse lol. At some point in fabricating the gearbox mounts, It got flipped upside down, No worries, the box is made to mount any which direction you want with the same hole patterns. So I will have to unbolt it and flip it.

Lol, well I started it, all the shafts have been keyed and all that good stuff.

I started it out in the yard, to see how well the clutch system would work.
Well it works pretty good. The bike wants to up and run when you start it.

But...

The shaft coming out the gearbox, Really should have had a support bearing on the right side, I had it sticking out with a sprocket on the end of it. I didnt think it would hurt much.

Well, when it started, I throttle it up a bit, and it it took off for a few feet, But I noticed the 5\8" shaft bent.

and I barely touched the throttle!
It sucks in a way because I have to get another shaft and bearing. But its pretty encouraging to see how much power this engine really has.
