Alright guys, back from the dead. I never stopped working but I did neglect to keep updating the thread.
Bike is pretty much done, took it for a test run last night, to find I have some tweaks and adjustments to make. Which is where you guys come in, because I'm mainly having trouble with the clutches.
First of all, I will ask. Does anyone know where 94c Comet clutches are still available, or know of any companies that have took over comet products?
I know that the 94c performs much better than my 500 series driver with 40 series driven.
Secondly, problem with my current clutches. With the belt on it new, The belt fits at the very very top of the driven clutch, this is because the belt for the driver is wider than the belt made for the driven. Doesn't seem like a big deal right? Belt just rides slighty out of the groove during start up.
HOWEVER
The belt has worn down to a little under 7/8" wide now, So now, the belt is Very loose.
This results in delayed engagement, Which means slower take off, and also this only allows it to shift only 60-75% through its range.
I couldn't figure why the belt is so loose now, when I had to fight it, to get it to fit in the first place. ( Had to shave some motor fins to get jackshaft close enough)
But now I would have to move the shaft back 1/4" to get better range.
I'm going to order a few new belts for it, (Found some really cheap on ebay) 25 a piece w/free shipping.
Now, I have not driven on this belt very much at all. Now, granted, the few miles put on it weren't easy miles, as I'm sure they weren't aligned well on my first test run around the parking lot almost a year ago.
I can put the bike on blocks and run the throttle and the belt throws rubber dust at higher rpms, is this normal? They seem to be aligned, or at least very close to aligned.
And finally, what you really want, pictures.
And a video,
First start of the day, Engine is cold, No choke.
