Well....that sure comes off as a pompous smart-alecky post to folks that are trying to help. Remember...we're not selling you parts, we're not out anything if your build fails, and we're only offering advice based on previous build failures....

Go for it....You obviously know more than us ...Poboy out...:surrender:

Steering linkages from a lawn tractor are not designed to go fast. We are just trying to help you out here. Like poboy said, we are not trying to sell you anything, we are just trying to help. As long as you don't use the linkages to the spindles and the spindles themselves, you should be OK with the wheel and mechanism I can see in the pic.

I hear what you are saying. There does not seem to be anything high speed or performance looking to a typical go kart steering system. but I know they work for at least 30mph. I was just mentioning my thoughts due to the simplicity of the system you described above. You idea may well work and I will throw you pointers as I see them. But (again just my opinion) what you are about to do looksmore complicated than neccesary.
But really... go for it, I mean why not. It is what you have and anything can be changed and adjusted as you go.

Exactly...and no one ever said what you were doing wouldn't work...just asked to see pics of what you had in mind, which you did, and at that point you would have gotten the same response from me. I don't know why you felt compelled to post the defensive negativity before anyone even had a chance to comment.

I don't see a problem with what you are doing...(build-wise)....posting....not so much. The simple steering systems on karts may look simple....but that doesn't mean that there isn't more to them than meets the eye, and many a time people think they have it all figured out....but don't...and we can spot the potential problems a little easier by sheer numbers of past builds, especially when someone is venturing out on out of the ordinary builds.

The ball is now in your court....

Cool, i look forward you seeing your work, i like when people.try different things, thinking outside the box. I was looking into using lawn mower spindles but the ones i found werent in real.good shape so i just bought go kart spindles. I need to update my project thread but have been lazy.

Naw its fine :idea2: just sell it to one of them Aussies or Britts! They drive on the wrong side of the road anywoo.:roflol:

If it was not for your kids, that would be a fun party kart. You know when a few buddies have had a few or 6 beers already.
