Yeah I'm sure they both are. One was cracked and the other was bent. I'll be working on that. It's funny because my buddy and I both looked at it and thought man this thing has some sort of funky steering going on. I'll fix it.

So today went down to this place here in Welcome, NC http://ckikarts.com/ Competition Karting Inc. They are not far from the house. Great prices on bearing cheaper than some of the online stuff, and actually cheaper than Northern Tool. If you dare to look you'll be amazed at what they have. Totally awesome place. Great help as well. I saved right much money on my bearings. I say check them out if you get a chance. Also if you are ever in the area you should check out their show room. It's a small treasure.!

PS they deal with racing karts but have parts for you average yard kart as well.

....is "that" where that place is?! OMG I heard bout them here(Fayetteville) to goto for carting parts... was never told where it was though(kinda far). But then again the same ones that told me are 'hardcore' into speed n things... like a 120mph kart run by a hayabusa 1300cc motor... yea too much for me! lol. They take trips to Winston-salem alot... so guessin thats the reason they loosely recommended it.

Honestly I was sort of dreading to go to them. Mostly because I knew they were a speaciality place and parts were going to cost an arm and leg. But their prices were right on. Everything was within. Actually cheaper than some places online. Mater of fact they beat the labor day sale prices by .50 cents. That's two dollars on the front. As for the rear bearings they beat another popular place by right much. Now I'm sure when you get into the more hardcore stuff it's going to cost ya.

Put yourself in my shoes (LITERALLY), my kart is finished & drivable but I CAN'T DRIVE IT due to my ANKLE!

We are slowly working on it. My biggest challenge is keeping my stepson motivated and off the video games long enough. We worked on it last night sanding and getting this thing ready to paint. My hopes are we get to paint this thing this weekend so we can move on. I think biggest issue is that sanding is kinda boring. It's not that we are trying to turn this thing into a show kart is just I want to show him what a little hard work can do for ya. Plus at the same time keep it fun. Thanks for the pics. Man I hate that about your foot. I was in a similar, but not quite situation two weeks ago. Decided to try and take my index finger off. I had stitches in my hand while trying to separate all these parts on the kart. Fun. Got them out this past Tuesday. So much fun. Hope the foot gets better.

Thats one very nice kart!!! Sux bout ur foot. Btw I want ur pedals! Thought of gettin/makin a set simular to those, but I was 'thinkin' wouldnt they respond smoother if some sorta hard tubing(plastic, like the short tudes from register paper rolls 2-3 bonded together to form a long enough tube to cover where foot is placed). By theory, Im guessin the tubes would act as 'bearings' on the rod/pedal, causing a 'smoother' throw...?

Just a theory. Still kick butt ride!

Got some work done to the kart this morning and hope to get some more done by this afternoon. Lots of sanding and hopefully some priming.

So after some grueling sanding and a failed attempt at sandblasting we got some work done. Then to the fun stuff. PAINTING. I'm not a professional in any way but this is the easy stuff. Yep camouflage and with a twist wait and see.....

Nice paint concept. But u KNOW w/ that paint job u HAVE to go BIG wheel size... Like the military lol. Some gnarly size like a 20 rear n maybe 16 front?... Lol

I was thinking something simple. Get the tube(s) as shown in picture(I think they sell different diameters too, so guess get the closest, doesnt REALLY matter if they dangle). The pedals I was thinking of making were gonna be solid core(like re-bar)... formed into the shape of a #7... but seeing as that yours is hollow... You "could" attempt to fill the hollow end w/ that JB weld "liquid-metal" stuff I 'think' I saw on another thread... drill hole at end-side, for a cotter-pin...slide on the tube(thought of using a smaller diameter rubber hose that the tube(s) would slide, snuggly into, both to hold the tubes together and to have a 'slight' gripping surface... and be black...lol). Find a washer/shim that will slide freely/snuggly on your actual pedal...but big enough around that the tube wont slide over, then secure it all together w/ a cotter-pin. Thats how "I" planned on doin it... Im thinking if you use those flare bolts you risk "ballooning" the tube/pedal end, then the tubes 'may' not wanna 'slide' freely.
