Nice start. I will be keeping an eye on your build. It looks similar to mine.

Very nice build suicide flyer. I hope my build can turn out as good as yours. Beautiful. What size motor do you have in it?

thanks for the kind words. i just noticed you are somewhat close to me. im in walnut creek, ca. My engine is a Lifan 125cc 4 speed. I think they said it makes somewhere around 10 h.p. the way i have it geared, its not incredibly fast, but with the short wheelbase and narrow track width, its definitly fast enough in 4th gear, and will pull the front wheels up in 1st and 2nd. good luck on the budget part. i got carried away and spent $800 on chrome and powder coating alone. but its worth it when you are cruising the car shows and can here the people talking about how bad a$$ it is. keep the pictures coming. i love these radio flyer go karts.

Got yet another question for anyone that can help. I checked the net and just got confused.
My tires read
4.5/10.5-5 front
60/10.5-6 rear
Looking at tire stores I cant find any with these markings. Did they change the way you read the side wall?
How do I figure out what tire to buy.
Thanks
Dan

Looking at my MGs, they are labled 11x6.00-5. Height x width - rim.

Yea I guess I do. What ever the post number mean. The fronts are smaller than the rears. Is that bad?

Not bad, just different. Does it give you a big&little look, like an 80's Pro Stock street car? Might not be a bad look; and altogther a non issue since you're running different width/height tires front to back anyways. It is a bit kooky when you first read it, as most size tires are available in both 5" and 6".

So if I wanted to replace the tires because they are done. What size could I get in a tire with tread instead of slicks. Also would like to go a little taller.
Just thinking but ??

There are many sizes of traded tires available in both 5&6". Burris makes a treaded dirt tire, and most other popular brands sell a Rain tire, which is treaded. Some things to note: rain tires are made generaly with a company's softer compounds. If you plan on doing a lot of wheel spinning and donuts, be aware that they might not last as long as a racing slick with a harder compound. Also, they can be a bit expensive for a set.

One other thing: Rain tires don't have a ton of different widths, and will have to be run on a very tight range of rim widths. Check that they'll fit your rims before you buy.

Those wagons are so cool ! And on the mig welding part - wire welders (and all welders for that matter) like CLEAN metal. Preparation (and of course proper heat setting/ wire feed) is the key to actually WELDING metal together and not just splattering a mess on top of it. Good luck with project !

more done

Slowly but still fun.
I got a used wagon off C.L. and bolted it to the frame. Had to cut out an area for the sprocket.
Next I welded the supports for the seat. I cut the seat from 3/4 wood and it is not bolted to the supports yet.
Next I will save for the motor so I can know where to start welding everything together.
Its starting to look like something. I don't know what but something.
Dan
