Aw nuts. My advice was gonna be to ditch the roll cage and the "luggage rack" in the back. It's a little bit too frou-frou for me.

I sucked it up and bought this....guess I'll have a spare 1'' chain clutch laying around

That's a good start, I still think you will need a jack shaft as well, unless you change that axle gear (which would be easier) I over gear my karts, I like the torque for hills and to spin tires. Top speed isn't as important when your dodging trees and stuff.
