I have a predator 301 8hp enroute from ebay got it for $70 I'll post a review on the motor and we'll decide if ebay is a safe place to buy cheap motors from once it's installed. I have a 10T 1'' bore chain clutch enroute in the mail (also ebay) and our frame is a Helix 150 converted for a Vertical shaft. The only worry I have is the sprocket seems small I haven't counted the teeth yet but I'm hoping I don't need to buy a new one to make the kart move 20170115_084937.jpg

That's a big kart. More like a buggy.
I think your gonna need a torque converter and a jackshaft.
You think it will work without all that I'm not looking for optimal performance I just want it to be able to drive and trail ride

That sprocket is tiny and your kart is heavy, I would listen to whitetrashrocker.. You can get a better top speed with the torque converter so it's not a bad idea!

I understand but it's going to be alot of extra fabrication

Extra fabrication, seems sadly par for the course on these machines.... If anything a jackshaft to augment the gearing instead of a TC....

Swap the rear sprocket for one with more teeth.

Or at least count the teeth on it now, so then I can say with more confidence...

Your clutch is for 1/2 pitch chain.
What pitch is current chain and sprocket?

I will in the morning and I'll get back with you I do have a spare Jack shaft I can use but I may need to swap the axle around so the sprocket is on the opposite side and the driven is on the other I just don't know where I'm going to fit the motor and the Jackshaft

Wow that is a big buggy, Looks like someone has already had a horizontal type engine on it before, Listen to the others you will need more gear, either a 61 tooth axle sprocket or a jackshaft to get more gearing options, a TAV would be nice also. Don't forget a new longer chain. it looks like #420 chain

The rear tires look to be on backward as well.

I like it, looks like a fun project.

It's a #41 chain the tires are temporarily on backwards till I get around to fixing it we never shaped around the tires when I flipped the axle around the Jackshaft is feasible but it will be hard to fit on it the TAV is possible do you think it would be enough the sprocket only has 31 teeth on the axle the TAV for a #41 chain it would probably only have 12-10 teeth

2 and a half to one on the torque converter with a 10t jackshaft would put your overall starting ratio at ~6:1 and it would go up to 3:1.. Seems possible!

I don't think a torque converter is going to add much fab if any. You buy the bolt on kit. it bolts to engine. you connect chain to sprocket? no fab.

but 10-12 to 32 teeth!! about 3:1 ratio without TC good luck moving. Will need a push start. but it will be fast! 50-60mph with 15" tires. even looks like you have 18" tires maybe? if so 60-70mph!!!! start on a hill should be fun

You won't run much of anywhere :D
You'll be push starting and watching your clutch get red hot hahahha, please don't kill a perfectly good clutch!

Nice roof! Now cut some holes in the floor so you can walk it home in the comfort of your seat!

Aw nuts. My advice was gonna be to ditch the roll cage and the "luggage rack" in the back. It's a little bit too frou-frou for me. :D
