Just picked up the engine for the kart. HF 6.5 Now I need advice on how to get the new air filter to sit horizontally instead of straight up off the stock carb.

Also I am ordering a new exhaust any suggestions for more hp?

I know that has an aftermarket carb but I figured that there was an adapter someone knows about for the stock carb

would you need the silencer for performance or is it just to keep it "silent"

Quite a few race kart engine builders claim they get a little more torque using that muffler (compared to an open header) on engines like yours. That muffler just has screens inside and its shape ads an extra stage to your header. It'd still be pretty loud with that muffler, just not obnoxiously loud where your neighbors would get pissed and call the cops and stuff.

Whether you use a muffler or not, you should buy or build your own support bracket for your header. (i prefer support brackets that clamp on at the end of the header or muffler)

If you call/email NR racing and ask: http://www.nr-racing.com/ They'll sell you a genuine Honda 6.5 flywheel for around $20+shipping. They take them off brand new engines they build up using billet flywheels. The Honda Flywheels are supposed to be higher quality than the clones.

Yep that air filter and adaptor is the correct one for your carb/engine.

You should have some sort of filter in your breather hose so it wont draw dirt into your valve cover/crankcase. You might be able to save some money buying a small breather filter similar to the one Affordable sells in that kit from an auto parts store. Just try to buy one that fits your old breather hose and install it near the valve cover like this guy did:

So the adapter should fit right on the stock carb? When I was looking at it "eyeballing" it looked like it may not fit. I was just curious.

Those air filter adaptors have fit right on Harbor freight 6.5hp engines for several years now. Unless the manufacturer has just recently changed their carbs it should fit right on yours. If you want to double check you could call/email Affordable karts and ask.

NR racing sells filter adaptors too, here's the link if you wanna check-em out: http://www.nr-racing.com/
