I have modified honda gx 160 and i'm looking to take it to the next step. These are mods that i have done:

governoer removal
gx 200 head gasket
smaller fan
bored out gx 160 carb
1.2 rocker arms
billet reatiners and keepers
stainless valves
8 of advance timing
header
diamond spark plug
18 lb springs

i have a 2 speed jack system in place and i would to achieve more torque and mid range power. i wanna be i able to "loosen the back end". i was think a better cam and gx 390 carb and flat top piston and arc conecting rod and springs? i wannaspend close $150 to $200. thanks

the tires are 16inch trailer tires and i hear minkuni carbs are hard to tune and they require a fuel pump right? would the power from that carb be that much better then a gx390?

thats alot of timing on that GX160..

add a cam.. shave head the .010 gasket helps but you caould take .05" off the head too

gx390 carbs I hear are good too.. mikuni will help the motor SING
my thoughts are that if you didnt port the head and/or add bigger valves you may not see much performance gain.. you MAY lose bottom end actually

cam 109 bux
shave head.. ($50??)
or switch to alky!!!! since you have alot of timing in that motor. GX160 run 4 deg advanced over a gx200

Do you need a fuel pump if the fuel tank is mounted above the mikuni? I guess a better question is how many psi does the mikuni need?

umm two things. i have this unusual problem that no one has been able to help me with. my engine does not want to idle when the choke is completely off. i have to heel and toe the gas to keep it running with the choke half off or completely off. is this normal? also i am looking buying gx390 or a 25mm mikuni. does anyone have pictures of how they set up the throttle control and adapter for gx390 carb and mikuni? thanxs. any info would be a great help! oh does the mikuni have to be connected to a pulse fitting if its gravity fed? don't really understand how that system works. i'm doing research though lol. thanxs again.

Mikuni can be gravity fed
GX390 throttle should hook up like the GX160 did.
Stout Racing.. Google him hes the man he can hook you UP

I think the carb is dirty or you have a vacuum leak, and or Idle set to low

The float just floats....The needle and seat shut the fuel off. If the needle and seat is sizes 1-1.8 or so its designed for a pump setup. 1.8-3 is ment for gravity feed.
