My Commet torque converter was waiting on me by the door when I got home this afternoon. I couldn't wait to bolt it up to my predator 212 to see how well it worked. I've been out there for a while now trying to fit it and nothing I do seems to work. The oil cap on the rear of the engine interferes with one of the reinforcement fins on the back side of the backing plate!! Have any of you ran into this issue? I'm thinking I'm about to have to introduce my brand new toy to my old trusty grinding wheel!! Any suggestions?

There are some videos on YouTube that address this. You may need to grind down a portion of the supporting fin(s).

Only thing I did is cut the top of the oil fill plug off. It has another one on the front and you don't need 2 of them. Its close but it will work that way. I did not grind anything.

You won't be able to get to that plug after install anyways. FYI.

Good idea and thanks for the help! I ended up grinding enough of one of the reinforcement fins just enough to clear the oil fill hole. Mounted up nicely. Thought I would get it all going last night but went to bolt the all back on the kart and the tc hits my motor mount plate. Hopefully I can take a fresh look at it this afternoon and come up with a plan around that. I'm ready to see what kind of difference it makes!

I also had to make a spacer to move the engine up. I think it was roughly a 1 1/2"-2".

I ended up having to grind some relief on one of the reinforcement fins and part of one of the oil caps to get everything to fit. Tried to mount everything to the kart to discover that the tc wouldn't clear my engine mounting plate. Built a new plate this weekend and finally got everything mounted and I must say that I am impressed with the performance. However, with me driving, I can't reach maximum rpms on the engine. I'm thinking about adding a jackshaft which will actually benefit me in 2 ways.. one the obvious, even more torque and Less load on engine so I can get maximum rpms out of it.. Second, I really need my axle sprocket on the opposite side of the kart because it interferes with the caliper jack screw with the caliper mount I came up with this weekend.. I had to cut 1/2 of the bolt off to get it to fit.. moving the sprocket to the opposite side will allow me to use a full length bolt in the caliper if I can find one to replace the one I cut off. Anyone have any pics of their design of jackshaft that will allow moving the axle sprocket from the left side of the kart to the right side? Also, I've seen pictures of jackshafts welded in place, but shouldn't they be adjustable to be able to adjust chain tension?
