So I got an electric golf cart and wanted to make a faster more powerful golf cart. Running a predator 420, which is working great, and this torque converter http://www.ebay.com/itm/GO-Kart-Tor...H_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c758a9a21&vxp=mtr so this is the first time I had ever used a torque converter and shredded one of the belt because i had the driven on backwards and nothing was aligned and the belt was backwards. So then I got the torque converter perfectly aligned and the torqu converter it self worked great. Then the chain kept falling off. It was a 10 tooth on torque converter and a 12 on the input shaft to the transmission on the golf cart (which is a 12.5:1 gear reduction) and the chain kept falling off on the same side of the sprocket every time I went over a big bump ant any speed at all. Upon further inspection the sprocket was completely worn on one side. So then I switched out the sprockets for pulleys and a belt. So then we got everything on and it worked for about 20 seconds then lost all it power and the belt would just slip. Can somebody help me to get this golf cart working properly please!!!

40 series torque converter bolt on

hey man, sorry to give you some bad news, but you bought the wrong torque converter. Even though it 'fits' the engine, the 30 series tav2 is only rated for 8 hp maximum, yours is 13 hp.

If you continue to use the tav2/30 series torque converter, you will likely damage or break it (which you may have already done). Additionally, even if it continues to work, you will destroy belts faster than Donald Trump destroys trust in the republican party.

Luckily, there is a stronger 40 series bolt on torque converter that is rated up to 16 hp. Go Power Sports makes it and it is found in the link above.

Also, just a few issues i have seen in the pictures

1) the jackshaft of the torque converter needs to be parallel to the transmissions input shaft, its not.

2) sprocket wear is probably due to misalignment, possibly chain tension, but most likely misalignment. the belt/chain should be at 90 degrees (perpendicular) to the sprocket/pulley of the input shaft. You can make sure its lined up by using a straight edge against the sprocket, or a square against the axle/input shaft/jack-shaft,

3) you are using a belt and pulley system past the torque converter. This is a huge problem, switch back to the chain, just line it up and use the correct chain tension. A little belt cant handle the horsepower, where a chain( 41/420p could)

4) even though you need to replace the pulley system past the torque converter, the existing one is really messing with the gear ratio. you would need a small pulley on the torque converter's jack-shaft, and a larger pulley on the axle (in this case your input shaft), but pulley's are going to shred the belts, so a chain is in order.
