Also the axle I have is a go kart axle. Not the original ody axle.

The frame is very strong and would handle most any motor. I would look for a parts or project bike that is all most complete. Perhaps even a atc 3 wheeler engine. The ATC motor comes in 110cc 125cc 200cc and 250cc. Start looking for ATC or Three wheeler on CL. The ATC's have a high and low gear and a automatic clutch. And pull start. Some of the have electric start as well.

Thats just me though. I see ATC engine for Cheap on CL but then you would need all the parts to make it run. Look for a parts bike. When your ready I can help you find a good deal.

Off to work now. See you tonight

Krazy, that's a Honda manufactured frame (yet again, copyrighted but I think he could give info without repercussions), it's called the Odyssey, and came in 3 variations IIRC. I bet that sizes could easily be found online with a quick google search. Additionally, you could find a manual with part numbers and find the exact parts, or copies, to build a similar vehicle of your own. That frame will be tough to duplicate from numbers because it is precisely bent, mechanically I'm assuming, and engineered to fine tolerances. Try something like one of the links below. In the long run, a set of well made plans is well worth the $20-50 instead of the massive headaches resulting from flying by the seat of your pants with a few numbers if you are building your first kart. After the first build and through research, you will be able to throw some kart together entirely in your mind and, with proper capabilities, build a kart cheap, well, and quickly. But buying, and building to a T, a set of plans is a GREAT (wink wink) idea. Make adjustments after completion or during the build. Do not fully weld anything until the sizes are correct. A few tacks will support it enough to mock it up.

EDIT: If you are hellbent on getting free plans, try bittorrent. I have found Edge Sidewinder plans, but possibly infected, and in Spanish. But the numbers are what really do matter most.

Get $350 and go buy this Odyssey.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/mcy/2076523765.html

Take a compression tester with you. Or get your dad and come pick me up. I will look it over for you.

I talked the guy. Old guy. He said it is missing the coil and wire along with the rear axle bearing carrier. ($35 plus hsipping) I have a coil and wire you can have.

I think this would be a very good start for you. Even if you have to rebuild the top end. everything you need is there. They are tuff as nails so you can beat the hell out of them. Later on you can add rear suspension once you learn how to weld.

You said you have $150. I would beg steal or borrow the cash and get this. Heck go karts are going more than what he is asking. And it has a 250cc two stroke HONDA. Tell the guy that it is a class project and try to get him down. Make up a story anything.

You need to look over these ody's good. Small parts can nickle and dime you to death.

This ody has been on CL for over 2 months here. So that concerns me. It looks like the front wheel is bent out. (Remember I have complete front suspension you can have) This same guy was selling other ody basket cases last month. So who know how this is put togather.

If you buy this bring it over. If it is going to run I will get it it running. I have other Ody's so we can test parts.

Also consider the one I am going to give to you? Could that same $350 complet the project? Maybe but you would not have the sturdy honda axle, gearbox and clutch. On the Cl ody look to spend about $100 plus on parts or repair. If you got the CL Ody you could mosh from heaven to hell all day long.

So what ya thinking?

Going to go look at this one sunday. It would go in my collection nice. I know a good deal when I see one. And this is it for sure.

Also trying to trade this guy my two atc110 three wheelers. I think he is going to go for it. That makes 5 ody's. Enough for the whole family if all goes to plan.

then i have an old 1980 yamaha 250cc duelsport,,4 stroke,,runs good,,but needs throttle grip,,on the handle bars,,you know the way you give it gas? and it needs gas,,,looking for $250 cash

Does this model have electric start? I would be looking what kind of bike and motor this is? Having the whole bike is the way to go. You can use the frame for the motor mounts.

I think the bike is this style. It could have electric start. There is your clutch and trans. But where would you run 3 peddles? Maybe a strait handle bars with a thumb throttle?

If you call this guy make sure you ask him if the trans is good? It can make a good deal go bad fast. These motor are rock solid though. The Electric starter motors are spendy though. Ask about that if it has ES.

Do you think this rout is to much work for you? Could you bring a project to school?

I still say get the CL ody for $350. I think it the long run it will save you loads of time. And more fun. If not possible then look into some engines/bikes

I will look some more as well.

A $100 complete three wheeler. You could even use the complete rearend. The reaend is narrow so you would have to do something. this is a first generation atc so it is points. You can tell by the round headlight. Or just get this running and mosh around on? $100???? You got that in your pocket now. Hell you could be riding in the snow by next weekend. LOL. When you get tired of it cut it up and make a kart. If you talk the guy ask him if it smoked when it last ran? Does the tranny work? <--- problem with atc110's

If you can't get it running I will buy it from you for $100.

Here is a $200 100cc bike.

Honda CB350 Flat Track Project - $175

This one would be a bad *** engine in an ody. You would kill yourself for sure.

Parting out 1984 Honda ATC 125 (Hillsboro)

jeeze! your helping me out alot! i think I'm going to try to make another 200 and get the ody. i messaged the person asking 100 ( on a different email other then my regular one) just to see if they would throw it at me. the person that replied said NO (LOL) and that she is in no hurry to get rid of it. so I'm going to try and make another 200. that would put me up to only 300 though, so hopefully she will go down 50 bucks...

oh and i have a old Kawasaki ( i think its a 1972 kd125 ) that doesn't seem to be running. most likely because the carb is plugged or because we haven't changed the oil sense we bought it and the gas tank is all rusted out ( 2 years ago, $200 bucks) and the engine might be slugged up a bunch??? not quite sure...

Did you find anything?

I found this in eugene.

Honda Odyssey FL250 ATV (Project) - $250

http://eugene.craigslist.org/rvs/2077315510.html

I will give you $75 for the extra steering wheel, trans axle, an extra set of tires, switch console for the steering wheel,

This thing will need some work but for $175 it's a good start. I do not see a pipe. Ask if he has one. I may call him as well. You better act fast. This will be scopped up pretty fast.
