When I Try To Start My Stupid Tecumseh Engine...it Won't Start. It's Because No Fuel Will Enter The Bowl. When The Inlet Needle (the Thing That Attaches To The Float And Has A Spring On It) Is In Nothing Will Enter. When It's Out Tons Of Gas Enters It And The Whole Carburetor Overflows. What Could Be Causing This? It Was Working Fine Then I Disassembled It For A Carburetor Clean-up And Put It Back Together And The Stupid Thing Wouldn't Start Because Of No Fuel. Could Someone Send Me Some Pics On Where To Attach The Tiny Spring Like Thing On The Inlet Valve? That's Where The Issue Is. I Hate Float Type Carburetors!

i figured it out. it sticks. is there a way to prevent it from sticking so the fuel can enter the carburetor? it's either a stick or the spring is too tight/strong or something?????

i still think that it's a stick. i decreased spring tension and it's not doing anything. how can i make it stop sticking permanently??

That tiny spring thing that holds the float and needle together IS NOT needed(in all the times I have seen them, your mileage may vary), I throw them away.

what i don't understand is that my carburetor cleaning can make it stick. it shouldn't stick at all! even after a cleaning. how do you recommend i clean my inlet needle valve and seat? what should i do the spring is broken! i'll try running it like kenny said and see if it works then if it causes problems i'll try to buy a new spring or a whole new inlet needle valve w/ the spring that comes with it

Spring is needed for vibratory reasons. That's why they are more common on 2 cycles. Keep it in place or more problems will arise. Been there done that...many times.

Elaborate, are you saying a metal on metal needle/seat will get screwed up by vibration hammering? My 86 spree came from the factory without a spring on the needle, but its a rubber tipped needle with a plastic float(Keihin carb).

Didn't say that. Spring prevents bouncing and provides better fuel flow.
Some manufacturers use springs while others do not.
Rubber tip is viton and is superior to metal (stainless) on metal (brass).

Thanks for the explanation, you made it sound fatal "more problems will arise".

I dont like the rubber needles, fairly new ones give me problems where 30+ year old brass and stainless setups work great.

Just start a "new thread" under small engine's. There you will get better responces.

The one smog pump supercharger setup I saw was set up so the pump pulled from the carb (it was also a B/S vacu jet) and pushed into the engine.
