back from the dead I started my build tonight,,,
got weisco piston in,arc rod,flywheel,and studed head..
got a 14cc head going on after I port/polish it
looking for 40mph to 45mph

I'm here for info. I have a similar Yerf dog with similar mods. With the exception of springs, and I have the governor off. I'll hit 30 before I run out of street. Does anyone know the golden gear ratio for speed and power?

Your rear tyres appear to be around 14" so, you should get away with a 6:1 gear ratio...

I have 20" tires and would hit governor at 35mph.,we shall see now that is ungoverned with some nice mods

The rear tires are 18s I believe. Also years ago I went from a 7inch torque converter to a 6inch one and started running a shorter belt. Is the smaller TC giving me a higher top speed or more torque?

Sub'd. I just got the yerf dog with no suspension. I wanted to mod the engine, but may just flip it and wait on a better cart.

possible both, depending on gearing. If your jackshaft sprocket stays the same you will get slightly less torque (not much less), but a higher top speed.

It all has to do with the overall ratio between low and high.

The overall ratio change between low and high is bigger for the 6" due to it being able to go into 10% overdrive at the high ratio.

The 7" does not go into overdrive and the overall ratio change from low to high is less.

Hope that makes sense, you can look at the numbers on the users manual between low and high.

Nice work on the Black Widow. I'm sure you're well aware of this, but keep in mind the exposed drive system behind the seat. Scarfs, long hair and hoods can get caught up in the spinning components. Looks real nice, kart should be a blast to ride.
