Well I was given a 1978 350 XL for $5. It is currently in small pieces... I'm currently having trouble putting the cam shaft back on it and have lost the timing chain into the case. So I am taking the flywheel off to have a better look at things. Here is a video.

Does your bike have the auto-tensioning cam chain like my 125 where you start the bike and let it idle and loosten the jam nut for a few seconds and it auto ajusts?

Yea, I think there is something else happening down there besides that. I'm currently taking the flywheel off. I just need a 22 X 1.5 bolt and it'll come right off!

You should buy the proper puller bolt for it or else bad things might happen. To get your auto-tension thingamabober to allow you to get the cam back in place loosten the auto ajust and pull on the cam and put it back into its journals.

After considering the options of this bike. To fix it up would cost...ALOT. I guess honda parts are made of gold alloy because some of those prices were ridiculous. I've decided to take a different course with this bike...

I found this nice little honda 5 hp GC in my barn! I also ordered a 3/4 bore clutch that fits nicely onto the shaft. I cut out a steel plate for the engine out of a I beam. Now I'm onto the wheel sproket... Stupid odd sized chains... Now i need an Idea how to get a sprocket that is 4 1/2 bore? with a 6 bolt pattern that is around 60 teeth #40 chain. If all else fails i will just get a 60t sprocket and cut a hole in it and make holes for the bolts, but I was wondering...if there is just something...out there that might work?

Why cant you just fix the 350 engine? You will be MUCH happier with a real bike engine!

It would cost more than I'm willing to spend on the bike itself... It is in terrible condition tbh. Anyone who wants this engine, can come get it! All I want for it is a 8 monster energy drinks . This project is mainly for fun. 20 mph-35mph gearing.

Well, Another carb, because I traded mine for a quadrajet. Also rings and gaskets and screws... There isn't much, but I'ma be super busy this summer...Also I cut the front of the engine cage out...no going back =P
