haha, I sketched this up today as the first step of my project. Step 2 is getting my girlfriend to let me buy some stuff to start making it. :furious2: <-- that's my girlfriend. I found a crashed R1 today with a good motor though.Yeah, it's pretty far fetched, but hey..... I can dream cant I? :idea2:

Looks great, but you'd end up with a better buggy if you built it to a set of plans. The drawing is very good, I agree, but there are quite a few areas in it which could do with cross bracing.

I have plans for this buggy (sorry not sharing) and they are highly recommended:

R1 engine is perfect for this, and it is a proven design which is fairly simple to building and you end up with a very strong buggy.

No affiliation with Edge, just a satisfied customer.

Hey thanks, that's a cool page. Yeah I drew this up just kinda on the spot, more tweeking to do for sure... but I dont really see too much more cross bracing on those buggies. The frames are tube stock on those so it looks like alot more going on for sure, but with tube + sheet metal chassis (meaning the whole thing would be built kind of like those buggies with tube, but then add sheet metal to it for a bit of a cockpit) nothings moving. I got looking at mine some more, and probably between the 2 top front shock mounts something should go across, then it 's in the line of vision I guess... yeah more tweeking haha. Thanks for that link, I dont think I'd ever build anything off plans,... just not in me, but some great reference pictures.

I'm not building this thing tomorrow,...I'll post a few more drawings and see what everyone thinks first. I may never get around to starting it, who knows :cheers2:

Keep at it mate! I think that plans have their niche, but for some people (like me) they get more satisfaction out of their own failures and learning then from something they built to plans.

But I'd still quite happily build a Sidewinder, right after I start and finish my baja bug.

Girlfriend!!! When you get married she'll have something to say about what you do and how you spend your money, but right now she's just along for the ride. Do what you want and when you find a girl who will put up with it - marry her.

haha! I had to read that a few times.

I havnt gone any further with this yet, I'm just sort of in between moving right now. I was'nt going to build from plans anyway... I just drew this up for a bit of an idea as to what I'd like it to look like. I have a friend back where I'll be moving who's a pretty knowledgable mechanic, and he's all for doing crazy stuff... so he'll probably come in handy. I showed him the drawing and he was pretty excited to get started. We'll be in WAAAAY over our heads here soon enough haha :surrender:
