It gets frustrating after a while when you constantly have tools etc laying in a work area because there's nowhere for them to go (as is the case with my lathe bench) so, first off, I went & saw my buddy Pete who "acquired" a heap of shelving with small parts drawers to see if he had any spare drawers he was willing to part with. It was well worth the trip; I ended up with 2 small drawers, 2 medium & one large drawer. Now I have to make a framework to hold them...

I discovered some 5/16" ply I had hidden in my garage so, I worked out some measurements & started cutting. Once I'd cut the sides & the shelves, I set up my simple, home made router bench & routed 3 channels in each side piece to hold the shelves. then I cut & routed the top & bottom, drilled some holes & screwed it all together.

The drawers fit perfect (with a little room to move). Now I have to pull it all apart, sand everything, give it a coat of lacquer before gluing & screwing it all back together for another coat of lacquer...

Cut it out man!!!! You swap from metal to wood, and the sawdust sets off my allergies from here in the Midwestern US!!!!

Actually, my allergies were already giving me fits; it's just that I had another sneezing fit as I read your latest post....

It never ceases to amaze me, how you folks around the world have to really scrape/scrounge to come up with stuff that I can get locally with just a few phone calls. Granted, the last 10 years or so supplies of such finds are getting thin on the ground... And don't get me started on what I saw at the scrap yard a little over 20 years ago; Steelcase (yep, THAT Steelcase) was updating just ONE of their plants tool rooms, and were scrapping enough shelf/drawer units to fill my 32' X 40' pole barn several times over..... Some drawers still had tooling in them (oh... to know then, what I know now.....):ack2::ack2::ack2:

:funnypost: :roflol:

I've been working with wood longer than I've been working with metal; wood's very versatile but, metal's just more fun

NO COMMENT! :toetap05:

Actually, I will comment: I've been doing this for years; if I need something, I just make it to suit my needs (within reason). I've never paid for a shop bought entertainment unit, I'd rather buy the materials & make what I want rather than go out & buy something that someone else says I should have...
