My neighbor sings at night in the backyard

So i've got this new neighbor. He likes to come out at night like an ally cat and attempt to serenade the night.

I want to open the windows and cool off the house. And all i hear is this guy torturing really good songs. I dont know if he thinks he sounds good. But OMG he does not. Maybe i call the cops and say there is a guy screaming in the backyard like a mad man! Or i get on my mini bike and do laps in my backyard to drown out the pain in my ears. i think that would sound better.

Great idea..... Youtube videos of him singing. will need to put some colorful images up since i cant legally point a camera in his backyard...or can i? Then when everyone starts posting how bad it is i send him a link and tell him to read the posts!

I know he has friends or at least some kind of drama group. you would think one of them would kindly tell him to give up on singing.

Oh man! his drama group!!! they get really weird in the back. screaming strange things and all repeating some chant together. if not drama then maybe a cult.

anyways, thats my off topic for the night....

oh i have this condenser mic i never used. time to connect and record some lovely music.

Certainly legal all around the world:
find the ORIGINAL songs he's torturing,
and then if he starts singing, play it loud enough that he can hear it..

the offset alone will throw him off, and even if he can adopt and sync to the original,
all you need to do is hit the pause button for a split second to throw him off again.

He'll give up eventually

You can also play the song he just sang, since that'd be still in his short term memory...
also works with totally different songs that have about the same tempo and flow,
but you simply cannot ignore the song your singing if you hearing it.

Maybe i am getting old

I wouldn't mind if he sounded good. I like singing, while in a sound proof area where no one can hear how bad i am.

I should grab my guitar and crank up the amp to 11 and play along. If i know the song.

..So i have my audio recording system setup and ready. next time ill get some audio.


p.s. I'll be in Austin Texas Saturday-Thursday. So if you do sing badly, keep it to yourself for a week

Since i'm now an OLD man, i think i will go to the blues on the green next week. Should be fun. with people who can sing....maybe...

..although now that i think about it, free beer and a show same time with my conference...ill just drink what i can hold inside me and then go to the blues fest

If you go to blues on the green do a couple of things:

1) bring a small cooler with beer in it
2) bike if you can
3) do not expect to park near the location. You will be walking to the location. Parking and walking will take time.
4) Best idea is the uber or whatever to Barton Springs and Lamar, then walk over. The driver will know the score. They'll get you as close as possible. Now afterward? To leave? Ha, I dunno, you're screwed. I'd go to Chuy's or Barton Springs Saloon, have a beer, and grab an uber from there.

I say uber, but we kicked uber out 2 years ago. But, they're coming back soon. It's a long story.

He's probably like so many other poor souls in this world and just living in a self deluded fantasy world. People have a primal need to feel important and/or special. He feeds this need through singing and acting where as we choose to feed it in a go kart forum. I'd say that you should introduce yourself to him and compliment him on his choice of songs which should get him talking, then maybe you can tactfully suggest that his voice sounds like wind in the shutters. In no way would I advocate starting a quarrel or argument with him as arguing always ends up as just more arguing. Find something that you can say that's positive and that you can genuinely mean about his performance and slowly and gently guide him rather than use the hammer and dynamite method.

Nah, I've been trying to learn how to deal with people without the hammer and dynamite. Believe it or not, it works much better for me, and when it don't, i'm well versed in hammers and dynamite.

Get one of these, place at the edge of your property. When he starts singing give it a good blast.

But where i live there is noise law that after 10:00 pm you must be quiet not to disturb your neighbors.

I can kind of relate. My brother loves to sing, but my God is he poorly off key. He's gone deaf and actually thinks he's good. Grew up with him doing this for 20+ years, never did tell him he's way off key. Rather someone else do it instead...i like to keep the jewels where they are at, and not force fed them to me.

I think a straight pipe engine is in order to drown him out.
