Sounds like it's allergic to the ground.

Might need to see a specialist for that, 😆 🤣 😂 😹

Is it a clutch or torq converter???

How high is the idle speed???

Obviously its carb jetting. It runs better at higher altitudes and dies on the ground. The height difference is causing it to lean out on the ground, when it is lifted up the thinner air hits that magic 14.7 stoichiometric mixture mixture thing. I think a holley 750 should cure the problem.

Replace or repair your clutch.

if you give us pictures or tell us about the kart like tire diameter, gear ratio, overall weight, style of driving, location of driving,…

we might could help see if there’s an issue that will keep eating up clutches.

A 30 series torque converter replacing your malfunctioning clutch is possibly a simple solution to all the words problems.

A proper cleaning and lube job tends to me more cost effective and satisfying than junking a 30 or 40 series thats misbehaving 🤨

I'd have done went through probably 10 of them by now.
So when I lift up my kart of the ground it starts fine but when I touches the ground it dies
Assuming it's got a 30 series on it I'm going to guess you probably have an alignment issue binding the belt which causes drag. Drag at idle will stall any engine if there's enough of it.

The belt should not be rotating at idle even with the wheels off the ground, if it is then A: your idle is too high or B: something is making the driver pinch the belt too tight like really bad alignment (incorrectly installed flyweights will do it for sure since they are asymmetric like the belt)

In the off chance your machine uses an engine mount type jackshaft which relies on the engine position for proper belt tension... if that's pulled too tight that can be you're issue.

I think it's the clutch it's not altitude it wether being on the ground or not when the wheels touch it dies. The seller had this happen and told me I needed a new clutch

Like I said in my post, replacing the clutch that is malfunctioning with a 30 series Torque Converter may both improve performance and fix the issue causing the clutches to burn up.

Torque Converters are preferred over basic clutches when karts are heavy, have large diameter tires, do a lot of stop and go traveling, ride on hilly terrain, …

Cruising at slow speeds might cause the clutch to remain only partially engaged. This slipping gets it hot.

Also a sprocket ratio of like 48 : 12 will burn up clutches if you really need 72 : 12.

They are like $48 on eBay US
